Do you have to have a degree to become a police officer? I dont have one but I have military experience and an Iraq Deployment. I keep getting told with no degree or law enforcement specific experience I stand no chance, by many people. Can you give any tips on bettering my chances of being able to become an officer?
You can start by simply applying with your local police agency, department or sheriff’s office. If they’re hiring, they will sponsor your academy training and you’re set. However If they want individuals with LE experience, ask if they have Citizen Volunteer positions. Usually you can volunteer with a police department or sheriff’s office for one or two years, learning the ropes, doing desk work, learning local ordinances, doing ride alongs, community service events, etc. it shows a dedication to learning the job, commitment to the hours and community, and is usually a good way to get your foot in the door if you’re starting from ground zero. Just be prepared to do the Probie work.
A sturdy belt and cinch it up tight. if your gear pouches are loose and floppy, it will inevitably drag down your belt as you run. I don’t know if you run nylon or leather, but I find that running leather is a sturdier material than nylon, even if it heavier. Same with pouches. It also all depends on what gear you are running in your department. Most departments these days want you to be batman, with ten thousand different items, tools, weapons, cases and tokens dangling off your belt. Ideally, figure out the minimum amount of gear your department will let you run, and work from there. Unfortunately, sometimes you just gotta crack on with your twenty pounds of assorted equipment and pray that your belt don’t drag around the ankles.
+Lexington Leaf you can apply through National Testing Networks is they're hiring. You will however have to complete the ORPAT (Oregon Physical Ability's Test) and that's done at a community college in Salem Oregon.
Great work thanks to all our Police men and Women.
You have to do the first section six times(before the push machine) right?

Can a California resident join the Eugene Police Department? Or does the individual have to reside in Oregon?

You should look up the definition of resident in Oregon. I think that will answer your Q.
Good info, but had a laugh at 1:09 with the radio.
Damn, beat me to it... by a year. X-D
Sh__ happens...
Haha yeah I noticed that also, I can see that happening with my radio. One of our officers lost his baton during a foot chase lol.
If your snaps are loose and your Velcro worn out, time to replace the snaps/Velcro or get a new pouch.
Thanks bout to crush this
In fire dept, we had to drag a dumby too
Shhh, we don’t talk about chief in public…
Looks achievable without training!
