I love their story, I've rarely seen a straight couple that could match them (perhaps none), think I've never seen something so beautiful... and it's nice to see someone who is gay saying this because I am not gay but always felt like it was cool that both of them are men who consider themselves men and have a "men's style" while Wei Ying is ok with being a wife, like it doesn't really matter. The problem is many people still like to associate homosexuality with promiscuity, which is ridiculous and there's a lot of prejudice. But maybe one day... or certainly one day, considering how things are changing faster now... Things could be different and it would be awesome if they could film a new version of The Untamed without all that censorship one day.
The author did a really good job at displaying their romance. I also dislike the stupid jokes about roles in lgbt relationships. I've met couples where both guys were tall, muscular, strong. Neither was the "wife". One of the couples was volunteering for foster, and had kids in their care, and let me tell you, those 2 guys were better mom and dad figures than many straight families i met in my 30+ years being alive. In the drama, Lan Zhan doesn't carry his guqin on his back, he summons it and i think he actually has it in his sleeves. He also carried SuiBian there i think. In the episode where the clans want to siege Burial Mounds, Lan Zhan, Wei Ying and Wen Ning go there and Lan Zhan casually summons the sword, seemingly out of thin air, but i think he had the sword stashed in that magical dimensional pocket inside his sleeve.
