You all can get better, ask God for help and try different forms of therapy on yourselves. I had a TBI and a concussion on top of that. I was slow in my thoughts and speech but over time I have gotten a lot better. Don't ever give up, keep moving forward.

The challenge and therefore the reality of a TBI is that if it IS moderate/severe you will never fully recover. Yes, you can improve by way of rerouting through "neuroplaciicty"sp but you will never fully recover. You cant grow a new foot or a new arm but you learn ways of compensation. As a side note, the affects are severe fatigue....but I will take that trade off as my mind is functioning again....albeit at a much slower speed. Hopefully that is not a downer for folks but as they preach you must accept it to improve your situation. It's a dark and lonely road.....and those lucky enough to know.......know

My mother who suffered the same was administered amantadine (Symmetrel) and zolpidem (Ambien) after about a month of unresponsiveness. Within hours she opened and moved her eyes, and can now move her mouth and head, but still cannot speak. Most doctors will _not_ object to trying these out for patients suffering from disorders of consciousness resulting from prolonged anoxic/hypoxic conditions so don't be shy to ask your physician.

It's becoming clear that we, his parents, have to advocate, research, ask questions, and figure things out on our own to help him, but we don't even know what to ask. I would never know what drugs or treatments to ask about. So I'd like to know what other trials are happening now in 2024? How do I find out more? This is overwhelming.

I would look Into cranial sacral therpay where the nervous system gets rewired so trauma can actually heal. I do highly recommend though you make sure other areas of health do get treated a bit prior such as the gut because it takes energy to move and heal energy. Otherwise your’re putting your body into a harmful situation doing this treatment.
