I thought Carol was very restrained when she called out as you were heading towards the tree. I doubt I could show the footage if it was my husband calling to me in the same situation! Thanks for sharing another interesting video.
Trees do that Ken, one jumped out on my drone once. Some fun drone flying you were doing in this video and some lovely views, loved the capture of you driving down the long straight road cutting through the forest. It was interesting to see Wilfred Owen's resting place because we once visited his home in Oswestry where he grew up - a great poet, such a short life. That looked a tasty one pot meal 😋. ONWARD! 😂👍

Loving the idea of parking in the middle of the French forests. Great place to practice flying your drone. Glad you got it back ok. Beautiful, sad poem. Cakes looked nice. 😊

Great piece again guys, just what we needed to chill out. That tree incident reminds us of a Jasper Carrot sketch.. Where he's filling out an insurance claim and wrote... I backed into my drive and hit a tree I didn't have! Lol. At least there was no damage.. Nothing that a couple of rum BA bas couldn't put right anyway 😋🐕🚙

Guide to non-authorised use of vehicle signalling in Ireland 😃: a tractor signalling towards the opposite side of the road (i.e. right in Ireland) is telling traffic behind, whose view they are obstructing, that they can overtake. I wonder if your tractor signalling left was doing this. Also, cars overtaking lorries, tractors, etc, who have pulled over to facilitate the overtaking, will give a double flash of their hazard lights to say thank-you.
Just occasionally that we forget to drive on the right, occasionally forget how many trees there are too in France. Really lush and green there in May and more choices of parking and shade. The drone shots turned out good again 👌 Never a dull moment with the food either.

Yikes 😱 happens to the best of us, glad no damage. I bet that tree 🌲 has had many a car 🚗 bump. When it’s raining we just carry on our day, it’s frustrating though as it means I can’t film and it’s a nightmare with the dog 🐶. Safe travels, Em x
Yes I think the wet is what puts us off having a dog but I do realise the hassle is repaid with the fun and love a dog delivers. 😁. If I have to film in a downpour I switch to my phone as it’s the only camera I have that is weatherproof. Using a mic with my action camera means the water can get in.
@@LifeistooshortCK they do indeed & thank goodness for dog coats 🧥😂 Good call about filming on the phone, I always forget to do that! Another interesting video full of what goes on in the small villages and in the great forests, wild life and drone footage lovely, thanks for sharing it all... Naughty trees have jumped in behind me twice, never saw them but heard them....
Hey, Ken. We all make mistakes or a moment of unawareness. The difference is, the rest of us don’t normally have several thousand onlookers. I feel your shame, my friend. Wonderful video!

I loved the drone footage in the woods, but can see how it could lead to disaster in the dance area. The shots on the long straight road was just perfect, as were the footage at the lake and on towards the village.

@@LifeistooshortCK Despite having lived for 6 years in Germany and owning a holiday home for 16 years in France, the only place where I have been stopped by police for this has been on the A1 near Scotch Corner. And, I did have sidelights on - unfortunately, the police officers on the A1 deemed that to be insufficient.
as always, very enjoyable ... looked like there may have been a slight scuff mark on the bumper bar from that pesky tree that jumped behind you, it should buff out 😁, cheers, Garry from DownUnder
Lovely video, we are just back from France and speed humps everywhere, especially at approaches to towns and villages ,an idea which perhaps we should adopt
The Wilfred Owen segment was a surprise to me. In August 2001, I found a book on English poems; some of Owen's poems were printed there. On the night of September 10th, 2001, I read his Dulce et Decorum est, Insensibility, Anthem for Doomed Youth, Futility, and Spring Offensive. I was sort of disturbed by his writing. However, the next day September 11, 2001, those poems came to life with the shock and horror of real life in the form of large jet aircraft crashing into large buildings, about 120km east of my home.
Sometimes a coincidence can be chilling. I can remember how shocked I was when that attack happened. A few officers from mine and other forces went over to help with the aftermath. 🙂👍
A great video loved the dron footage you are getting to be at flying it The footage of the wood was great. And Ken we all done that backed it some thing. I done it one time me and the wife and kids went for day at the seaside I was backing into a space when one of the kids called me and I looked at her then hit a concrete post don’t 300 wort of damage. But I think you been a ex cop would agree with me. A car or van can be fixed as long as no life is lost. It only a tool after all
Watching this has made me want to return to France, soonest. Incidentally, Cambrai was the scene of the world's second tank battle. The first was September 15th 1916 on the Somme. The one at Cambrai was the site for the first massed tank attack, which ultimately failed.
Did you ever notice how many contractors, such as painters and electricians have banged in rear bumpers and doors on their van? Backing a van into a tree is extremely common on tight quarters jobsites and I believe most of us have done it at least once. So don't feel bad, you have plenty of company.
I'm very concerned that you didn't even put a bandage around the tree to aid its recovery! Maybe a reversing camera on Santa’s list this Christmas. 😱 Another great vlog, as always.
Hi guys, I wondered, did you go 'en route' with a plan, or is it a bit like we'll see whats interesting while starting direct from the ferry? Or maybe where the weather is nice? Gosh I always like some lovely cake watching you 🙂. See you!
We have a note of places we want to visit before we go and plan a rough route. If we find other interesting places en route we can easily slot them into our plan 🙂
Its very rare that we need the loo at night but its very easy to have a pee sitting at the end of the bed. Anything more than that would be a major upheaval. 👍
I’ve backed up into a tree myself! How do trees miraculously appear! ?? Yes, we have our lights on in the rain here too. France is very beautiful. You both are so fortunate to have traveled there. Did you plan the route or are you just “winging” it? And where can you shower??? Just a few questions I have as I’ve watched your wonderful videos! Mary
Thanks Mary. Carol planned out a rough route with some places we wanted to visit before we left home. We don’t bother showering. An all over body wash with a hot flannel every morning is all you need ☺️
@@LifeistooshortCK thanks Ken. We have recently had our van fully converted and are planning a trip to France next month. So your vlogs provide lots of useful information, hints and Tips
Hey guys. I think in RUclips studio you can turn off adverts or change where they appear without the need to ask for money. But I am not certain as I dont know how or want money from my subscribers as yet. We can currently can cope on our pensions with the small amount of subscribers we have and very few views on our channel. We do know that watching RUclips on a smart TV is completely different to a phone. We cannot view comments, live broadcast etc. Adverts different. Cheers from old George and Jane. Happy future Adventures. 👍👫🇬🇧
In youtube studio you can do loads of things. Producing these videos takes hours of work and the ads help pay for the trips. I don’t think its unreasonable and we watch loads of youtube and have seen most financial models. I prefer a system where everyone benefits as I realise not everyone can afford to contribute.
@@LifeistooshortCK Thanks for your reply. Fully understand everyone is struggling. I must admit I dont do good videos as it takes about an hour to produce on my phone using power director. Not as tough though - use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226).
Cheers Garry 🙂
Lovely video, we are just back from France and speed humps everywhere, especially at approaches to towns and villages ,an idea which perhaps we should adopt
They did get a bit wearing after a while but they certainly slow down the traffic 👍
Looks a great trip
We had a great time 🙂👍
You may not have been taught how to do that Ken but well done for working out how to do it all by yourself
😂
The forest was amazing, any reason Carol was driving Ken? Lol. Too many trees 😜 maybe! Best wishes from Northern Ireland.
Haha. At least the trees in the forest didn’t jump behind the van when we weren’t looking. I was driving while Ken was flying the drone, Carol x
It only a tool after all
Very true Thomas 👍
Watching this has made me want to return to France, soonest. Incidentally, Cambrai was the scene of the world's second tank battle. The first was September 15th 1916 on the Somme. The one at Cambrai was the site for the first massed tank attack, which ultimately failed.
Didn’t know that. Thanks 👍
Did you ever notice how many contractors, such as painters and electricians have banged in rear bumpers and doors on their van? Backing a van into a tree is extremely common on tight quarters jobsites and I believe most of us have done it at least once. So don't feel bad, you have plenty of company.
Life is too short to feel bad for long 😁👍
I’ve just been & checked the tree. It’s fine!
😂 Cheers for that 😂👍
I'm very concerned that you didn't even put a bandage around the tree to aid its recovery!
Maybe a reversing camera on Santa’s list this Christmas. 😱
Another great vlog, as always.
Probably need to get the reversing camera fixed ☺️ Thanks Henry 🙂👍
Hi guys. Really liked your treatment of the Wilfred Owen grave. Respectful and moving but not OTT. Very well done x
Thanks for watching, guys 🙂
Ken, you're not in Z Cars anymore! Nice video.
Sometimes I wish we were still in Z cars. Everything done and dusted in a single episode 😁👍
We have noted that you never stay on official Aires or campsites. How do you deal with the loo situation at night?
I’d find it very hard to not think about the tree incident afterwards Ken.
Just showing everyone, you’re not perfect 😉
It’s the price you pay when you go rallying. 🤓
@@LifeistooshortCK 😂😂 it’s just a way of making memories
Love the videos, especially the drone footage so am wondering what drone you use
DJI Mini 2 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK thanks Ken. We have recently had our van fully converted and are planning a trip to France next month. So your vlogs provide lots of useful information, hints and Tips
You will love it and France is a beautiful place to try it out 👍
Of course one get grumpy after making such a mistake!
Thought you would have parking sensors on your van
Nope.
Camera I was given. But I do videos that hopefully will help people and encourage people to fix things etc. Its just a hobby to me. Cheers from old George
Who put that tree there, 😂
God ! what happened to the british ?
?
