Kudos Denise! Can you believe I have no cook books? I got rid of them quite few years ago. I had some cooking magazines left but they are gone now too. I realized I’m not really a recipe person. I just find recipes on line if I need them mostly for like baking.
I am such a recipe book nut! I REALLY NEED TO DECLUTTER THEM. I just can't bring myself to depart with them just yet, but I will straighten them out. Thank you for this encouragement.
LOL! I have to admit I was SHOCKED when you opened that cabinet door and exposed all your cookbooks. You did an AMAZING job or decluttering and organizing. BRAVO!!
I can hear Dawn from the Minimal Mom speaking, "If it's not a hard yes, it's a hard no." One idea I heard and use is to tear out or photocopy the recipes you use and declutter the books / magazines. That's what I started doing. I only kept my 2 work horse cook books, everything else is copied and put in a recipe box.
Hello Denise Enjoying the video I loved seeing you caring for the birds and fairy challenge , porch cleaning videos what happened ? you rarely slow outside videos please make some more! Enjoying the declutter challenge! Good luck!!🎉
Enjoyed the video. I’m a cookbook collector too. I noticed we even have quite a few of the same cookbooks. I decluttered mine a little while back but I could certainly stand to do it again. 😂
Good job! I just put the "Down Home Healthy" cookbook in my Amazon cart. Leah Chase was legendary and when you said it was for people who like highly seasoned food, I knew that was for me! I can't stand bland food and in fact, I carry a little container of Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning in my purse "for seasoning emergencies". Cookbooks are a hard one for me to declutter. I actually had a custom-built cabinet made to put in the breakfast nook of our kitchen just for cookbooks. I also have shelves at the end of the kitchen peninsula for cookbooks. My goal is to limit my cookbook collection to those two areas which is still a LOT of cookbooks. And just today my daughter gave me two vintage cookbooks for Mother's Day. She's an enabler - ha!
Here's the thing...you have decided where you will keep them. You have two spaces designated for cookbooks so you are good. They are valuable and bring you joy. As long as they fit where you intend for them to go...no worries. It's when they spill over into other areas or you can't get to them to enjoy them because they are in a jumble...that's when it's a problem. My cookbook cabinet was a jumble and I couldn't get to the ones I wanted. I had work that needed doing.
Hi Lucy! Having so much fun doing this declutter challenge! Tomorrow our postman is picking up non perishable food for the local food banks so I was glad I decluttered the pantry! I must say I'm like you in that if it's something Inexpensive that is past the best buy date and I know I won't use it I'll toss it, our food banks do not accept stuff past the bestbuy date. When the pandemic hit, I , like many, panicked and bought way to much for hubby and I. However I have been able to bless all 3 of my boys and some friends with big food packages so it all evens out I think. As for cook books I haven't gone through them yet, they are like friends and it shall be very hard to purge through them! I received the " Julia " apron its beautiful! So long for now talk to you later, your friend Ethel ❤
Seriously, how many Thanksgiving books does a person need? Don't we mostly make the same old favorites every year? I'm sure you are a fabulous cook already.
Girl, I know! I try not to buy more but you saw what I have. Two of those magazines are 20 years old but I just love them and pour over them at holiday time. I use them for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know. I need help!

I have decluttered so many cookbooks! Now I have eight that I cherish.
Thank you so much for doing this series. It has been very motivating.
Your voice is so calming. ❤
I live my cookbooks. They are like old friends.
Denise I almost cried when you were looking at books you were keeping. You looked like I hope these fit, maybe another shelf lol Either way well done!

Ugh. Did this last month. Took two days. Good for you doing it.

Our postman is picking up food tomorrow too. I will pull some things to share. It is a worthy cause.
@@homemakingwithdenise Yes it is for sure.
😂😂 my husband said we are kindred souls.
