The Outbound report I was most waiting for, and I'm not even a graveleur! I became a Keegan fan over the years through the TR podcasts. Couldn't be happier that he won Unbound 2023. I nevertheless contend that Keegan is part super-power, but that it's as much psychological as it is physical. Just love his shrug-it-off-and-get-on-with-it attitude. Huge congrat's, Keegan!!

Thanks so much for reading my email! I did drink much more than 1.5L…and just hearing your comments and reflections is even more added value! Huge props to Keegan for his amazing result. When I saw his time I was gobsmacked! What an inspiration. Thank you.

    I love how I couldn’t tell if Keegan’s feed was paused for like 2-3 minutes…then he spoke.😂

Suggestion: concentrate on the person invited other than the podcast presenters or internet comments about the race.

Have you tried putting a frozen bottle of water in your camelback to keep your bladder cool and store frozen gel and later drink the ice cold water?

Question for the 🐐 I’ve been riding 4-7 hour rides for a few years now when I go over 8-10 hours I feel like I get sick or have a small cold. Wondering if I just push through it, once I’m use to the hours I might not feel like I’m sick. I shy away from the ultra stuff because of this. It was once hard to complete 4-7 hour rides but now it’s normal for me and was thinking the same for the ultra stuff. Thanks for all the good advice you guys put out!

A sign of malnutrition is cold intolerance. Problem need to eat and drink adequately.

Also ultras are super lame uncompetitive due to high barrier of entry. A local 5K race is more competitive because of the lower barrier of entry.

Question for Keegan, or anyone knowledgeable on this:
I'll be doing SBT Black this year for my A-race. I live in a low-altitude area that barely hits 1K ft anywhere in the area, and have only experienced altitude on a bike once, which was during a race that had 3.7k ft+ of elevation gain over the course of a 7.5 mile climb. Spoiler: it didn't go well. For SBT, ill fly in the Tuesday before and plan to do a ride every single day leading up to the race. What would be the most bang for my buck in regards to adjusting to the altitude going into race day?

From the pictures it looked he was wearing road shoes, not MTB/gravel shoes. How he ran through the mud with those I still don't understand.

Keegan seems like mud is always a factor in this race... Have you considered having your bike treated with Bicycle Armor? I think its worth looking into..

Old Pro Andy Hampston talked about how they ate lots of greasy fatty food and then rode all day to train their bodies to burn fat. A gram of Fat converts to 2 1/2 times the energy than a gram of carbs. Sounds like you guys just burn carbs, although you're skinny. Any research on that?

"coast down the hills" ...worst strategy possible for rilling terrain. You end up doing intervals for 12 hours. Keep ypur power delivery consisrant up and down the hills, use momentum to get you up the next hill.

People using Blue Yeti mics should read the directions on how to properly use them. It's a side-address microphone, not an end address as it's being used here. 🤦‍♂
