    Oh my goodness... I had to pause the video for a sec when you got to the seller with the rare Horizons tape, as there was a real risk that my sides were about to go into orbit.

    Suggest this to wind you up Chinny? I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that you would think that I would do such a thing.
    In my defence, I didn't realise that there are people out there trying to sell manky empty boxes for 50 QUID. The last gasp of 'collector' mindset. For your health, I'm glad you didn't spot the 'reproduction' C64 boxes for £25 each, or the 1541 disk drive for £78 (plus £71 delivery)

      At least with a reproduction box someone has spent time and effort making it. Instead of a box that has come out of a damp shed that a long deceased cat used as a litter tray in 1989.

      next stop is selling whatever cardboard pieces of a box to be used in """" 80's displays """ though maybe that will take 60 years more to happen. think like some "old timey tourist shop" interior aesthetic

      You must have a blood vessel bursting threshold though all the same? The Amiga repro boxes sell for as much as £85 without involving eBay. There's a word for that. ;)

      @@dreamkatcha I'd rather pay 85 quid for a few nice bottles of wine than a reproduced box. Would give me more enjoyment.

    Well, this cheered me up no end.
    I know now why I don't buy the hardware.

    • @chinnyvision
      @chinnyvision Год назад +1

      The hardware cab still be got for reasonable prices. Even in here there's a couple of more reasonable prices. However overall the market is stupidly priced these days and people paying £100+ for a +3 won't ever get that money back.

    People buy empty boxes to put their box-less computers in - would you rather buy a retro computer with or without a box? Check the difference of values of computers if you use BOXED in the searches.

    • @chinnyvision2
      @chinnyvision2  Год назад +2

      I'm perfectly well aware of the fetish for original boxes but I'll never understand it. As I said, I have plenty myself and have to hang onto them despite not having a box fetish.

      increasing resale value is a double edged sword if you actually intend to have your thing sold.
      anyway if the box is really expensive it's really unlikely to boost the value on resale market by that. it's at a point where the thinking that it would have been well taken care of if it comes with a box is out the window already too(should be out the window anyway).

      If the computer is complete with manuals and box it doubles the value according to pricecharting

    • @chinnyvision2
      @chinnyvision2  Год назад +1

      @@JesterEric It might do but you only need to look at how many of these 'boxed' and overvalued machines just cycle around and around on Ebay. And I can't say I have ever paid more for machines in boxes. The fact it's in a box is irrelevant. The only machine I deliberately bought in a box was the GX4000 as it was new old stock from a warehouse find. It's amazing how many boxes I have without even trying. I daresay if I didn't have the space I would have just binned them. The machines are important. Some battered 35 year old box? Nah.

    Its more interesting to look at completed UK listings. Someone paid £900 for a c64 GS. Recapped +3s are getting sold for £250. For an auction to make a big price you need a couple of buyers. Someone paid £360 for a +3 copy of Robocop 3 and that was an auction

    • @chinnyvision2
      @chinnyvision2  Год назад +1

      I prefer to see it develop live rather than look at what's happened as that's what most peoples experiences will be. Just logging in on a Sunday night.
      Do +3's even need recapping? I can't recall seeing one with leaking caps. Another way to get more money from people who don't know better.
