although THERE IS enough material to make a new season as is ... i personally finished volume 13, the way the very last volume ends is not "perfect" for a finale .. so yeah in order not to end up like dragon ball z 9 episodes to fight a single enemy, the anime updates are on hold until more material is available

About Cocytus pulling his blades from thin air -- the NPCs of Nazarick have the same inventory as the players do, a sort of dimensional space that they can store and draw a limited number of items from at-will. This seems to be an Yggdrasil-exclusive feature, barring some mage of the new world creating a spell of similar effect.
Anyways, great video! I love seeing all the little connections and nuances that you pick up on, and the overall lore and history that you're able to bring up ^-^
These videos better not stop, I genuinely love Overlord and it's because of you that I've started reading the graphic novel.
The detail and depth you put into these videos is immense and if I was a fan of the other anime you watch I'd be all over those too

One of the archetypes the Monk in D&D 5e is Kensei, which was added in after the Overlord anime aired
dracone well kensei is a pathfinder magus archetype that is already pretty old and has spell casting and stuff like that which is more similar to the kensei from overlord
In Baldur's Gate 2 the Kensei was a thing. That was around the 2nd Editin of DnD I think. So jeah the Kensei is a staple in those RPGs.
I know it existed in the past, because it was a key ingredient of The Beardfist, a Dwarf who chose their beard as their mastery weapon of choice.

Hearing your explanations is inspiring to get into character building of quality detail, and normally I’m not a role playing kind of guy. You’re attention to details and explanation of them are very entertaining to listen to.
Cocytus is arguably my favorite gaurdian because I just love cold weather and his cool insectoid armor.

Ainz how equipment was dealing damage to him there, he used holy daggers against Shalltear but just holding them made his hands release smoke (from the damage he was taking coz his race and karma have no affinity to holy items)

I have this two fanfic in my head for that.
1. The heir forms in e rantel when ainz is in close proximity with a guardian for a very long time. So he has with EVERYONE and hilarity ensues. But wait there's more, the heir can also be "born" from multiple bottoms(obviously ainz is top duh) more hilarity ensues
2. Somehow zurrenon managed to get ahold of some of ainz' "dark energy" and managed to birth a new creature with the plan of educating it to be their trump card against ainz but oh no it knows who its father is and kills everyone around it and managed to somehow find ainz and declare who it is and how it came to be and hilarity ensues

For example him having offspring with the floor guardians simply because of proximity to them, would mean that every joke dependent on that fact would get old incredibly fast and would make the stories boring!

I would like it to be mentioned that niflheim and hel(heim) being either different worlds or the same world is still getting debated... like... alot... I would probably go with the assumption that helheim and nifelheim were different in the Yggdrassil game, as if I remember correctly nazarick was located in a swamp inside the realm of helheim.
Wanted to point out something that the video may have missed.
the Vorpal weapon mainly a sword , so the Cutting off head part requires that you roll a 20 on the die (Nat 20) meaning you have to have rolled a critical hit for the effect to work and if the target does need a head to survive it's a instant kill (unless it's a undead or construct anything not requiring a head). I feel this is nit picky Just wanted to give the information down here.
Also fun fact Raksasha in DND are infamous as underworld crime bosses and heads of thieves guilds reason being that they don't rule as overlords is because they are weak to piercing weapons blessed by good aligned clerics (simular to vampires and steaks)
Just a guess, but considering the game they played was named Yggdrasil.
Niflheim was likely one of the worlds in that game, they likely had a faction or group named "the Knights of Niflheim".
Not necessarily based on the mythology origin, but likely was a thing in the game itself.

Vorpol is a nonsense word used in the poem "Jabberwocky." The poem uses words that have no meaning as adjectives to describe an unnamed here killing a dangerous creature named "The Jabberwock." Vorpol is used in the line
"the vorpol blade went snicker snack, He left it dead, and with it's head he went galumphing back."

One bit of info that I noticed that is extremely important for builds like cocytus is how will he be able to approach opponents and what can he do to avoid damage considering his defense is so low. (Movement speed, dodge abilities, Teleports or dash abilities etc.)
I read the LN but It doesn't seem like there is any info on this topic though.

Looking at his character sheet, his defense isn't actually as low as you'd expect from a glass cannon sort of build.
The halberdier's name may be a reference to "Kang the Decapitator" a great axe used in the game world of warcraft.

It's a shame I'm only interested in your videos on series I know; Overlord is the only one you really cover that I read.
.. though to be fair, many of the other series I read are usually isekai with novelty twists or intentionally don't think about their lore as much, that would be less suited to such analysis due to the lower consequences and greater focus on the power fantasy aspect at the cost of lore.. they are almost all novels, and you seem to focus on series that have the visual aspect to join with your videos.
Well, as usual you have a really interesting breakdown of the culture that the series, its lore, and themes are inspired by, with interesting takes on what their final powers could be like. Always interesting.
I now preface this next part with: sorry for rambling. Besides feeling like it, I thought you might be interested in a couple novel recommendations, as I've read so many of these isekai I am starting to feel almost like an authority on them.
Passing on isekai that would have less to say lore-wise, I have a couple you might be able to make some interesting material off of, or may just enjoy reading the novels on if you are inclined. Just feel like sharing these with someone. Der Werwolf: fails at the stated goals of the series about being focused on a second character of the antagonists (more about someone of importance with a complex about avoiding higher positions of responsibilities in a misunderstood society of monsters,) but is otherwise an interesting story. Unwanted Undead Adventurer: not an isekai though very similar in theme to most. Very little happens each wordy volume, but is an interesting tale that is subtly about self esteem, and an adventurer who must cope with his newfound undead status. This one is a bit more game mechanics than lore/culture, yet I feel like there is something there I'm not reading deeply enough into. Hard to say when some idle thoughts by the protagonist can take a few pages to go through.
Yeah, I've read dozens of these isekai, and have multiple lists for what I've read. Approved, "mediocre", rejected, and food porn. Because there are at least four food porn isekai out there, though I've only really read two. Just got into trying to find unique takes on the premise and reading a number of different series. Campfire Cooking in Another World is a lot of fun, by the way, and stands out by being really casual "do these things, adding ingredients to taste" instructions you could actually re-create without a proper recipe. Otherwise, it's Shield Hero where he's the unwanted fourth summoned person, except the nation has nothing to do with him after the intro when he just jumps ship and winds up with all the most powerful beings in the world tripping over themselves to gain access to his Japanese style foodstuffs and goods. It's just him traveling the world cooking things as power and wealth gets thrown at him, which is unwanted as he just wants to live a casual and unspectacular life of comfort. Occasional intermission chapters about the people he meets shortly after he leaves, him helping people by giving them cooking instructions, and what happened to the other three summoned heroes who stayed. Kudos for having no harem or romance plots.

If the best warrior was never beaten and therefore, never died in battle. They might have never been able to enter Valhalla (assuming that you have to die specifically during battle)

There isnt much to talk about with the maids. They are level 1 homunculi who clean all day every day. The 8 edged are just super stealthy assassin npcs.

Will you be covering more contents for overlord? having watched only the anime it left me alot of questions due to cutting scenes and complex information that are only available either in web or light novel, while you explained some of them i still have alot of things i think i missed and i am highly fond of anime but since they are cutting stories in it hopefully you can cover more of em. EG: slain theocracies history and the characters in it. that battle of shaltear and the dragonoid which wasnt covered in the anime but gave us a super short scene about it.

There is demon in DnD 3.5 monster manual called Gelugon, which is an insectoid of niflheim wielding a halberd. Although we know Cocytus not to be demon in the Overlord World I would say it is safe to assume some combat abilities could be passed on

I assume his smaller pair of arms or secondary arms if you will, can only do stabbing motions unless his main arms are not in the way? It's still... handy though for surprise attacks.

Not sure if the ability of the billion blades/ chalice are now fully known but, if the billion blades would work by allowing user to take the weapons and maybe they are enchanted It would be best to give it to Demiurge.
Think about it he summons x amount of minions, buff them make them use weapons , he would be one of the strongest.
A sword that's 1,8 m long is more a O-Dachi/No-Dachi than a Tachi, I would say. But that's just the sword nerd part of me.
Edit: Even for a regular Nodachi, 1,8 m is a bit long. On the other side, the wielder isn't regular either.
