I like the way you put it... Back engineer your call to action based on the emotional response you get from the song. Good stuff! 👍

That’s funny, I actually went down the rabbit hole by trying to nail down the need for music. Or by trying to answer the question “what are consumers trying to accomplish through the use of my artists music?” I came across an academic journal that listed 3 main functions of music being 1. Self-awareness 2. Regulation of arousal and mood and 3. Social connectedness. I was kind of lost trying to figure out my artists perspective market segments but this has kind of made things a bit clearer. Just an interesting thought.

Interesting way to look at it. I'm going to be analysing all my favourite songs now.
My latest single is about struggling to survive as an ND, in a world that's not made for people like me. I used writing and performing the song to turn the pain, confusion, and isolation into a cathartic release. Is that what I want the listener to feel? Or that if they make it through the current struggle, they can make it through anything?
That's something I'm going to have a think about...

Jesse - Would you ever want to make a video talking about the pump and dump of listenership that can happen from being put on editorials? I've seen it with several of the musicians I know; get playlisted, have big bump in listenership, then a big crash once you are taken off. By contrast, the song that wasn't playlisted has had the most longevity in streaming rates
