This video is awesome! So many little tips and tricks. Things I learnt: - burrito method for both sides of gusset, mind blown! - straight stitch for all the areas that don't need stretch like the side seams.
Liz!!!! This was soooo good. I continue to try to perfect underwear and I now have the confidence to know I don’t have to cut elastic to size, quarter and gnash my teeth trying to stretch the stuff. Thank you from the bottom of my ❤️ . Because of your sew-alongs the Watson bra in scuba will be my first bra. It’s cut out and I’m waiting for my Bra Builders package to arrive. THANK YOU!!! 💕💕
Liz, one of those who tormented you for a panty tutorial... 😌. It was definitely well worth it. I've watched a lot of them, but truthfully, I really like yours. The little tips you pass on, baste your foldover elastic, the way you did your burrito seems easier than others, simplified is what I feel you've done, using the nude cotton lets you see clearly your right side, wrong side. As always I'm impressed, you never disappoint 🥰
I've been reluctant to post this video since I didn't think it was up to my standards but I had your voice in my head pushing me on! I figure I can always shoot another video and replace it but this gives people direction in the mean time.
Very straightforward tutorial on this -- good job! Wish I'd had this when I first tried the burrito method. :-) And I'll definitely be back to check again before my next try. Thanks.
If you use a wash away thread whilst basting then it will simply disappear when you wash the underwear for the first time. No need to pull out the basting!
Great tutorial Liz! I was just about to look for a TNT panty pattern for myself! Thank you so much for sharingI BTW... I love the panties you just made! So cute!
when you sew the waist elastic did you pull that slightly like you do on the leg elastic? Have you worn this pair yet, is the wide elastic as confortable as a narrow one ? It looks stiffer .
Nope I sewed it 1:1 I think the wider elastic is a lot more comfortable than the skinny ones and doesn't cut into the flesh of my hips as easily so it looks more streamline under clothes.
I use it all the time on my upper cup and under arm edge. It’s not really supportive enough for the bottom band. You just need to remember to remove the seam allowances. There’s plenty of examples on my instagram @liz_sews
Great video. This is exactly what I need as want to venture into lingerie sewing this summer. Also I was wondering is that a coverstitch machine I spy on your table? And do you ever use that for your lingerie?
It is! I just got it a few months ago. I haven't used it for lingerie but I was planing on using it for a swim suit which is very similar. I know some people use it to apply the Fold Over Elastic on lingerie but I think you need to binding attachment to really make that work.
I try to link all the patterns I use in my tutorials in the description box. For this tutorial I'm using the Watson- shop.clothhabit.com/products/watson-bra-bikini I think its a great first pattern for dipping your toe into lingerie sewing. It was my first as well.
Thank you so much... I just saved the two vids I watched today to mimic what you have done... Thank you so much... I also just copy and past the links where to get material... I have a hard time finding large bras with small waist line...
You can. but they make swimwear elastic the is more rubbery and is designed to hold up better to chlorine, salt, and sun witch can breakdown traditional polyester elastics

I like to use my husband's old white cotton undershirts for the gusset lining
Thats a great idea!
I am very tempted to give this a try. Thank you.

So cute! Thank you!
Looking for pattern of shorts with gusset crotch
I have to wear full behind underwear. I do not find little underwear comfortable. But they sure look cute.
Wildflower wind, I do too, so I just draw the buttock area down about and inch. Fits perfectly.

Hi Liz, have you ever used fold over elastic instead of picot elastic in bra making

Can you use the leg elastic for swimwear? Or is it a special kind of elastic?
You can. but they make swimwear elastic the is more rubbery and is designed to hold up better to chlorine, salt, and sun witch can breakdown traditional polyester elastics
Hej! This is my first time here.
Sorry about that...not trying to be click bait-y its just the name of the pattern :)
I just followed you pinkpanther7881
Thank you, it looks so easy to use fold over elastic when you do it, and your panties are beautiful. I’ll make another effort LOL
