7x12 Cargo Conversion Series | Step 1: Sealing & Protecting The Black Diamond
I took Delivery of the black diamond immediately started working on it….
Since this is a brand new trailer, My first goal was to protect it from water damage
I made sure to seal all the wood panel internal wall unions before priming and painting, also on the floors before putting the epoxy… yep go ahead and hit the subscribe button if you haven’t done it, it will help me grow the channel and will let you know once I post these pre-announced or spoiled vids in the cargo conversion series..!
I was so excited with the delivery of my black diamond that I forgot to record all the steps that I took inspecting the trailer before signing an acceptance of delivery.
In the outside, besides making sure no screws are missing and that they are all tight. I also checked on the roof and on the floors, this is a simple hack, where you turn the flashlight inside the trailer and close all doors if you go under the trailer and you see lights then you know you have a gap and inside the trailer with the flashlight off you see daylight and it’s not coming through the vents then you have a potential leak
Depending on the size of the gap and the location you identify during that inspection, you are to put it out to the manufacturer in my case it was none.
I ordered my cargo trailer with under carriage coating due to the fact that is a steel frame trailer. However I used Rust-o-leoum undercoating tu Cover The Corners In The Union And Welding spots and since is a rubber coat I used also as a 2nd coat in the wood from below
Before going any further is important to consider safety this under coating is a harsh chemical, therefore be sure to wear goggles and a respiratory mask.
And now the black diamond is sealed and protected from water damaging it from outside, and I sealed all potential cracks inside just need to let it dry well enough so we can move to the next stage and complete the protective seal inside…
