First Paramotor Beach Flight Ends with Broken Prop - Paramotor crash Landing

  • Watch as I fly one of the very first times after training, and my propeller breaks. It was my fault this happened, and have since replaced the prop.
This was my very first flight on the beach and on my own equipment. Being that my paramotor is a BlackHawk Travel cage with a R120 engine, its not exactly state of the art modern technology, so I always have to be on edge and super careful while flying my motor.
This video shows my first flight, after getting home, on the beach, and on my own equipment. I made a HUGH MISTAKE!
That mistake was not doing a proper preflight before flying my equipment. This mistake I made, which I was taught to always do, will cost me $400 for a new prop and air filter.
Don't be like me and learn the hard way! Learn from my mistake and Always Always preflight your equipment. Even if you just checked it yesterday. There is no reason to skip 2 minutes of inspection and preflight.
Luckily, I didn't get hurt, and the damage extent was the prop and air filter. It could have been worse and damaged my wing.
Although I need a new prop and air filter, I still consider this a successful flight because I flew on the beach, didn't get hurt, experienced an emergency landing, and, my favorite part, landed and flared perfectly!

Very true Jen. Some people would say the air filter hit them & try to sue.

Yup. PREFLIGHT. I have my airbox connected to the cage with zip ties (not tight - just enough to keep it from the prop if it does come off in flight). Nothing wrong with Blackhawk! That's a bit older machine, but it looks like it has been cared for well. Mike and the crew at Blackhawk will get the problem sorted out for you.

Scary flight. Maybe make a vid showing how you preflight now making sure this never happens again.

Very true. I learned a valuable lesson. That's a great idea. Make a video of how I preflight my Maverick (and wing) every flight! Thanks for the idea!

    Hi there

Hey buddy. So I went to Aviator PPG in Lake Wales Florida. The training cost $3500, which was a 15-day course and I was able to learn on the schools equipment, which was nice because I didn't have a paramotor or wing yet. Hope this helps!
Thanks for watching, and if you haven't already, please subscribe. I have a brand new paramotor in the mail, and in the coming weeks, i will be publishing a video on the unbox/assembly/first flight.
