Hi Sarah. I find that taking a higher dose of Lantus really helps. I am 170 lbs and I take 40-50 units before bed.

That's a LOT. It's too much imho. (I am 135 lbs, ad I take 8 units of Tresiba a day ,5 in the morning and 3 before bed. That's due to a low-carb diet). Anyway, 40 to 50 units a day might make you insulin resistance... I think you should consult your D team about it.

Have you considered breaking up the lantus into two shot in morning and night? So for you, 7 in the morning and 7 at night. Seems to make it a little more predictable.
I've been high for awhile too. Finally starting to gain a little more control in the last few weeks. But still not great. You're right though, try again tomorrow.

Hi Sarah... just also watched your Libre CGM video. Out of interest have you tried injecting the lantus at night? I find 1 hr before dinner time has the best effect... and ofcourse avoiding high GI carbs (refined (white) flour, white rice, cooked HOT potato.. cold cooked potato is fine as it becomes resistant starch). What you will also find interesting is that if you have a serve of fruit after your dinner (or any meal) it normalises the sugar spike.

Hey Sarah, I just realized you're using an old version of insulin that takes longer to peak than what most diabetics use. You should try Novorapid. Is 14 units the only lantus you take/day? It should be closer to 14 units twice a day, its no wonder you're having so much trouble, your team is not giving you the correct tools.
