As someone who was a hard-core LOL esports watcher from 2013-2021, and who hasn't played anything more than a handful of ARAM'S since then, I do still watch MSI and World's.
It's funny to me how it's 2024 and some people are still struggling to reconcile LS's place in the lolesports sphere. It's really quite simple, the following three things are true: 1. He is a genius when it comes to analyzing game strategy 2. If you are his friend, he will defend you a fault 3. If you are not his friend (or worse, disagree with him) - he will slander you at every opportunity Just keep these things in mind, and everything will become much clearer.
He was an ok pro player genius is a bit far fetched, he has never been allowed to test his theories, we where about to see in c9 but that obviously crashed and burned in a few days
Spawn is absolutely better than kkOma. kkOma left Faker and did nothing on Vici Gaming, in fact he couldn't even make playoffs (well, better than bengi who got relegated on that same team). He joined the world champions DK and did nothing again. And now joined world champions T1 and... You guessed it right. This guy owes his career to Faker.
That Thorin rant during the 100T section was one of the best in a while. Reminded me of the comment he made once about doing more damage to someone’s mental than the Korean healthcare system has to LS’
Tô thorin's point, I think folks in the west do care about format. Hence the viewership decline. More tournaments and combined regions are probably a good thing.
I supremely hate the fact that every single international/big tournament in this game is a mix of tier 3, tier 2 and tier 1 teams. Can't we just have a fucking normal tournament structure? Why the fuck is Worlds, the PREMIER TOURNAMENT, ALL-INCLUSIVE? HELLO?????? I have lost hope - no one gives a shit about anything anymore, greed won twenty years ago.
Actually quite a funny episode, Thorin with his acting is so memeable (in a good way), cause that was funny. Yes the viewers definitely are DBZ anime watcher era.
The point about the LMS is true and sad. They were never going to be seen as a Major Region despite the performances they would have internationally. Meanwhile, NA for the most part had a decade of mediocrity and still retained their slots. Now they’re losing one because of the merger. There’s no reason to be upset by that when teams like 100T make it to Worlds. That right there is all the proof you need to show its the right move. 😂
We retain our spots by having random good finishes that are higher then most wildcards. It's not fuckong rocket science to figure out how we still have slots.
@@newrudo the LMS doing great back in the day while NA was too busy failing to get out of Groups, should’ve allowed a slot to go over. But that was never going to happen because NA needs to be protected at all costs. At least until now that is: a change that came from viewership and not actual play. Good riddance to the LCS.

If he was like that, he would have been like this for years. He's never been the toxic type of player or streamer, he's always streamed soloqueue and been positive about it. He has always critiziced other professional players or streamers for being toxic when they make a living from playing a videogame and say they should never be negative about it and should be grateful that they are allowed to do that as a job. If Bwipo (or anyone) is an extremely immature person that couldn't control their emotions, they would have always been an extremely immature person that can't control their emotions
I am one of the few "not-a-fan" of Blaber. I've never cared for him and the only year he had any real success, Svenskeren carried him into worlds. Took Nisqy sacrificing his lane to baby Blaber to enable the team to function. You will be hard pressed to find another midlaner that can actually function with this jungler and I am shocked time and time again with the fanboys that keep propping him up. Glad to not see him at worlds and saying C9 would have done better is vapor in the wind, meaningless. Really wish there was a NA team I could root for, maybe TL, but I won't hold my breath. NA with 8 (or fewer) teams doesn't deserve to send 3 teams (and they still have a better record in the recent at worlds than EU).
I mean blaber was overhyped for his entire career. He was always on the team with the best laners in the league and his teammates were playing well with him always. You can say he is easy to work with when he consistently has good synergy with teammates but there was maybe one year where he was individually the best jungler in the league and often he wasn't even close to the level of the best or even second best in the league.

To Thorin's point on Attack On Titan, it's a good description of one of the points of intrigue. But it goes so much further than that. It has elements of deterministic time travel and mad philosophical takes on questions of nature vs nurture/can people be held accountable for their inherent nature. Brilliant show. It does start slowly though and takes a season to get all the pieces in place for big payoffs later on.
The whole show is based on the fact that no one knows anything about Titans until the writer decides to reveal it to the audience. I loved every character except Eren. But i did not like Eren and the overall story. I know it's very famous and lot of people consider it as one of the best, just not my thing i guess.
While in theory, you are correct, Monte is very on point with the execution. The way AOT handled all those plot points was very mediocre and surface level. Alternate history and rewriting are good if they are used itself as more than just plot points, but a way of telling a story. Time loop is good, but it negated a majority of choices of characters while not making you feel like you rediscovered the story on 2nd reading is a major fumble. And philosophy is really a 13 yo idea of morality and obligation of freedom. The concept is great, execution was mediocre, some were done very well, but overall it wasn't that great or profound once the concept was introduced. But AoT at least was monthly, I cannot fathom how terrible the direction would be if it was weekly, which is the major issue of manga as a medium, and why majority of the better stories are one shots, anime only or Light Novels (with the odd weekly manga being just perfection for a while). Also, I don't think you need to have depth to be good. Mastering simplicity is as hard as complexity, but if you want to be complex, you better nail it. AOT was complicated more so than complex and deep. Good example of simplicity is Dragon Ball as a manga. The visuals tell so much of the characters, and the simplicity of the plot elevates the design and story telling, especially pre-Android. Not every story needs to be Victor Hugo levels of depth. Satoshi Kon was a master of adding complexity through his design thanks to simplicity from a narrative standpoint. I like Legend of the Galactic Heroes even if for me it's just babies first geopolitics and is very biased in a Japanese view of geopolitics that other mangas have done better (mainly some Gundam series), but it handled the themes way better, and the understanding of characters makes re-watch and following the plot grow deeper meaning.

The most egregious failure of the 2024 worlds music video is that Faker as Azir does not create a literal emperor's divide between himself and his opponents with the sand soldiers as his former teammates: impact, bengi, piglet, poohmandu, marin, Duke, bang, and Wolf.
While sure pool seeding creates unfair matches on round 1 , swiss is supposed to correct it on round 2 & 3 , If flyquest easy win round 1 , they will be on the 1-0 pool and they would need to be lucky to get another 'easy' (if not simply 'winable') opponent , even if they do , they would be the luckiest in the world but then they would have to navigate the 2-0 and probably the 2-1 pool. My point is , aren't you criticizing throug a tunnel vision on the first round ? (not saying swiss is perfect at all but maybe not because of the first round)
If riot has a ranking system they use to seed worlds, why not just get rid of the qualifiers and just invite the top 16 teams and actually have a banger tournament?
I think that the Worlds tournament format was, is, and will always be designed to give the Western teams the best chance to make it further. Also, the "draws" are totally rigged.
If thats the case, why do they have more lck and lpl slots, and do they not have to play in playins. Also in past years lec had horrible draws. Given that they are rigged, it would mean they would be rigged against the west. yet the tournament is design for the west to make it further? This argument doesnt make any sense.
Swiss format is designed for Western teams to fluke their way to knockouts. Having HLE and BLG in the same pot as G2 and FLY 😂😂😂 This clearly isnt a fairer system than group stage where you have to outperform two LCK/LPL teams to get out
Just to let you know dragon ball is still VERY POPULAR so is Naruto they still are going on actually dragon ball super did end recently but naruto is technically continuing on in boruto a series about hos son which is awful where dragon ball is still dragon ball. Also please give one piece a shot it is 25 years old so its not zoomer shit like demon slayer or attack the manga is on its way to out selling superman as a “comic”. Oda the author is essentially the Alfred hitchcock or better reference akira kurosawa of modern manga is it goody at times for sure in the anime but it touches on alot of serious and dark real world topics. But if anime is too goofy for you i get it just read it instead
Also @monte @thorin I’d say the next generation of Big 3 anime is “My Hero Academia”, “Solo Leveling”, & “Jujutsu Kaisen”. You could also say “One Piece” but that is a 90’s anime so I don’t count it.
sniper and eloya chocked on the main stage so hard. There macro was also very suspect, not sure who is supposed to be shotcalling on their team but it fell apart HARD. Tomo stuggled a lot too, but with no support, it is hard to play ADC. Quid was fine, not super but not the problem, feel bad for river, bro was like legit 2v8.
LFN shows are the only league content I consume. I don't watch the games any more, I don't play the game anymore. For me, LoL is dead, and I'm so much happier for it 😂
idk why people like nemesis so much. Maybe its cuz fnatic prides themselves in the past on their midlaners like shushei, xpeke, and caps. and then nemesis... idk didn't really do anything? whatever, fnatic fans are insufferable.
Bwipo was never against venting and let out your frustration verbally while playing alone in your room, in this case while streaming, he said that multiple times in past streams and always was the type of person to "flame" to himself while playing. Bwipo points about the toxicity was of you are a pro player and go out of your way to flame randoms in soloq (typing in chat, there is a clip of him talking about this when the emenes incident happened)
I would have liked if they had linkin park performing for faker while he is "recovering" in the castle and then during middle pause, they stop playing and he walks through them to leave and meet with T1
While I agree it might be a bit unfair but you have to remember the teams get one more slot than the regions, so it makes sense that they would have a tougher time in round one. Also, it probably is better for viewership if there is some Western team as long as possible..
If riot are so hell bent on single elim, at least make worlds more like LPL playoffs where the double elim starts at Top4. Wouldn't that also help the elo sorting for power rankings cos they can sort 3rd/4th and add to the hype of finals if a team comes from the lower bracket for a rematch?
Here is how you can find it. Go to the video description and go all the way down to the "show transcript" button. Highlight everything in the transcript box and copy it. Open up notepad and paste it. press ctrl+f and search for "seeding". The word seeding shows up only a handful of times starting at the 58:41 mark.
I’d say Quid is an honourable mention. Really hyped prospect, destroying EU solo queue then absolutely ran it down in the play ins like 1/9/5 on Vex. It would be career ending if he was on an Asian team.
There are so many players that had way more egregious performances and their careers didn't end. The best example I can think of is cryin griefing RNG for an entire year nonstop.
Listen, if Chovy just keeps farming the map, doesn’t make a mistake but also doesn’t lift a finger to help, which is what always happened at Worlds quarters or semis so far, then that’s just his own way of choking. Atleast he can grow some balls, go for some risky plays etc, go down with the ship instead of acting like he’s invincible everytime shit hits the fan.
Bit of the paradox of the ecosystem we live in that riot has helped build. A lot of fair reporting is critical of them. I do feel as though Thorin tries to give credit where credit is due and Monto actually does, but Thorin is a critic at heart, i dont think he can help coming off as negative.
13:00 LS is riffing off the no sneaky no worlds meme, but with fudge; and he's implying that firing fudge wasn't going to be the fix for C9's problems. Not sure where Thorin's rant about him being bad/not the shotcaller comes from. It' s14 and we are still using the word "shotcaller" like one player has to drag four other players around. Also Thantos may have been able to pull ahead in lanes a little harder, but he was dizzy and disconnected in macro post plates dropping almost consistently. Not sure why we are putting him on a pedestal considering he's an import. You can criticize Fudge without making Thantos a player he clearly isn't (not saying he won't be in the future, but he hasn't demonstrated anything that Fudge couldn't have done and also isn't anywhere near peak Fudge.)
1:09:40 So we don't want close games in round 1 because then it COULD lead to some screwy round two games BUT we don't want G2 vs PNG in round 1. Pick a lane ffs. I understand either argument but you're contradicting yourself here. ALSO Swiss is 10x better than anything else. Y'all are mad that some matches may not be the most competitive, but you still need to beat 3 DIFFERENT teams minimum to get out, but last year the team that 3-0d in matches ended up choking out. The system is the best at filtering the best and the worst the most effectively 1:11:41 That's G2's fault for being undiciplined
G2 is the 8th/9th best team at world's, probably better than DK. It's hard to rate them higher after the summer. Pain is likely the 16th best in swiss. That's closer than it should be by far. Easiest team in swiss going to a middle ranked team in the first round isnt great.
@@appleinator8065 and even if that weren't the case, they are waffling about maybes and potential outcomes. If a team wins a game they deserve that win by virtue of winning. If flyquest wins 2 straight then they deserve it since they won. Unless they want a 2 month tournament of all bo5s, there is no better format than swiss.
@@appleinator8065 No its not. You either have stomps or close series. Also why would you want to be first seed if you then get matched vs a second seed (in case pool 1 plays vs pool 2) in first round? Makes no sense, even the group stage was like this, but with redundant games.
Thorin has downplayed Zeka this entire split and now he is praying on his downfall just so he can avoid ever praising him to the extent that he deserves. It's so pathetic
@@SwayNoir Zeka was undeniably the second best midlaner in LCK (partly because Bdd could never actually win) and Thorin would talk about him like he is some mediocre level midlaner
Of course they don't mention Viper as a potential Dade award winner when everyone and their mother is putting him as the best adc in the world (despite a mediocre split). Their biases are so obvious.
They also didn't put chovy or knight because it's quite unlikely one of these players actually bombs out. Sure, they might, but all of the players they named have much better chances of being shit at worlds. Technically, any player in the top, like 8 teams, could be a Dade winner, but some are more likely than others.
Why are regions locked for round 1? People want to see good teams play each other. HLE vs. GenG, T1 vs. GenG, BLG vs. TES, BLG vs. LNG round 1. These seeds don't matter, give us 2 groups of 8.
Monte really put the effort to protect Chovy from the possibility of him getting the Dade award on their first segment lmao! He and his GenG was one of the biggest favorites in Worlds for the last 3 years especially now. If he bombed out of quarters like last year or just did his yearly ghost gameplay where his impact as supposedly "best player in the world" can't be seen. He should be the best candidate for Dade award alongside his teammates and Knight if BLG fails.
Same as "must be hyped by analysts", but when it comes to faker it's reasonable to look at the most unhinged T1 fans, just to get him in the discussion. Cringed really hard at the ragebait
@@Oznek2014well you just had to show up to represent one of those unhinged fans I guess. So 2017 before the finals you would also argue just because faker hadn't lost a worlds final he should win right? And he got 3:0ed by crown. Sure he might perform well again, but that should be celebrated as faker performing against the odds and not him living up to expectations.
Agreed. Chovy and zeka are like the most likely ones given how highly rated they are. Faker wasn't highly rated at all to warrant Dade awards nor showmaker with the current dk. I also feel like caps wouldn't qualify as well. if they ain't receivin Dade awards last year, I can't see it happening this year
@@jessm.sandler7187yeah its kinda weird, but since there is no real definition of the dade award i guess they can just twist and turn it to fit their narrative and generate some clicks. Kinda disappointing though. Yes there is obviously some stuff you overplay to entertain, which was also a topic on this episode, but some stuff is just cringe and reaching for straws.

The most egregious failure of the 2024 worlds music video is that Faker as Azir does not create a literal emperor's divide between himself and his opponents with the sand soldiers as his former teammates: impact, bengi, piglet, poohmandu, marin, Duke, bang, and Wolf.
The tokyo drift sound track was a hit when i was a child
Even better, let's just crown the top team world champion
@@jamonnaranjo Isn't the point of qualifiers to get a bunch of good teams to the main competition?
I think that the Worlds tournament format was, is, and will always be designed to give the Western teams the best chance to make it further. Also, the "draws" are totally rigged.
If thats the case, why do they have more lck and lpl slots, and do they not have to play in playins. Also in past years lec had horrible draws. Given that they are rigged, it would mean they would be rigged against the west. yet the tournament is design for the west to make it further? This argument doesnt make any sense.
Swiss format is designed for Western teams to fluke their way to knockouts. Having HLE and BLG in the same pot as G2 and FLY 😂😂😂 This clearly isnt a fairer system than group stage where you have to outperform two LCK/LPL teams to get out
Spawn > Kkoma
I didn't like the music video bc I couldn't tell who anyone is and I've watched league for 10 years
"It was the lack of Fudge, that was the problem" LOL holy shit I'm dying that was hilarious
I would have liked if they had linkin park performing for faker while he is "recovering" in the castle and then during middle pause, they stop playing and he walks through them to leave and meet with T1
For the anime sidebar part, I do wonder what Monte's thoughts are on Cowboy Bebop. That anime definitely has a lot of depeth and meaning.
While I agree it might be a bit unfair but you have to remember the teams get one more slot than the regions, so it makes sense that they would have a tougher time in round one. Also, it probably is better for viewership if there is some Western team as long as possible..
As a T1 fan, I hated the kkOma hired when it happened, and I was proven right. kkOma has been trash for more than half a decade now.
I was born in 1997 and for my generation Dragonball Z was and is definitely still the shit.
Tokio Drift was the best one! I mean i only saw the first 3 but it's the best of those. So please take it back Monte
This episode has me so hyped for Swiss stage. I could run through a brick wall right now.
Agree with the band thing, alice in chains cringe asl for that
If riot are so hell bent on single elim, at least make worlds more like LPL playoffs where the double elim starts at Top4. Wouldn't that also help the elo sorting for power rankings cos they can sort 3rd/4th and add to the hype of finals if a team comes from the lower bracket for a rematch?
No. Worlds is one shot. It's part of thrill.

Lmao.

@@moneyarr We could choose Brazil but they might actually win something so idk i guess NA is kind of important.

Yeah they have a weirdo hate boner for it but from my years of experience, EU has been the most insufferable region for nearly 10 years.
@@newrudo yea 2019 g2 winning msi and making it to finals of the worlds was really insufferable true.
Choky gonna choke but these 2 hypocrite gonna say chovy best in league. LOL. These 2 is james harden blower.
Ok but thorin has to watch fast 5 because that movie is legitimately great
Just check what aot is rated on IMDB vs all the shows you think are good Thorin wnd monte 😋
U just don't understand the game enough to see what chovy does. It's okay we can't all be above gold.
Bronze ppl shouldn't comment on proplay
THE CHURCH SHALL NOT ACCEPT THIS HERESY!
Is it possible to see a 'good vibes only' episode? or nah?
Bit of the paradox of the ecosystem we live in that riot has helped build. A lot of fair reporting is critical of them. I do feel as though Thorin tries to give credit where credit is due and Monto actually does, but Thorin is a critic at heart, i dont think he can help coming off as negative.
Wrong place for that
Thats not what we asked for 🎼
Why? League is like, a hatewatcher sport at this point anyways
@@jessm.sandler7187what??

LS is riffing off the no sneaky no worlds meme, but with fudge; and he's implying that firing fudge wasn't going to be the fix for C9's problems.
The system is the best at filtering the best and the worst the most effectively
1:11:41 That's G2's fault for being undiciplined
Not wanting close games and not wanting G2 Vs PNG is a consistent position.
As is not wanting fly Vs GAM (something like the 10th Vs 14th best team)
@@appleinator8065 No its not. You either have stomps or close series. Also why would you want to be first seed if you then get matched vs a second seed (in case pool 1 plays vs pool 2) in first round? Makes no sense, even the group stage was like this, but with redundant games.
Thorin has downplayed Zeka this entire split and now he is praying on his downfall just so he can avoid ever praising him to the extent that he deserves. It's so pathetic
It's amazing how there's still people like this☝️
@RumandCocaine for real though. I don't understand how these people exist.
You really believe the shit you type? Did you come up with it by yourself? Its insane the narratives people like you try to paint lol
zeka literally had a better split than viper but these guys glaze viper so hard and act like zeka is mediocre
@@allangibson7028 They literally mentioned Zeka who is like the most clutch player ever, meanwhile Viper had an inconsistent split. It's obvious bias.
Bro he was fucking god-tier for the first half of summer and had mediocre second part. Do you even know what is Dade award?
@@belesir8847 the most clutch player ever Zeka 😂
@@TheVampireavatarhe will look like that. No worries.
Why are regions locked for round 1? People want to see good teams play each other.
HLE vs. GenG, T1 vs. GenG, BLG vs. TES, BLG vs. LNG round 1.
These seeds don't matter, give us 2 groups of 8.
These guys literally just complain about everything
@@paulundso8258when is faker underperform ? In lck yes. He has the right to not give fuk. He got 10 lck alredy. Faker never underperform in world
@@Oznek2014well you just had to show up to represent one of those unhinged fans I guess.
