For years I've been told this is the best ending, but this is probably the creepiest of all, as James had gone mad and putting his bet on dark powers ...And we all knew praying to some weird God to bring back the dead will never work as intended😮
I’ve always sort of thought that the Ritual James intends to do in this ending actually ends up accidentally sacrificing Mary and rebirthing the Old Gods that are mentioned, or the god from Silent Hill 1 that they were trying to birth. Idk this ending always felt super ominous to me, not a good ending at all.
In the original Rebirth,Maria sound like she loved James in a very possessive way and got anger when James treats her like just an object...but here, the moment James said he can bring back Mary, her voice and demenor change...she knows that instead of an object,James sees her death at his hands as part of the ritual. This is the only ending where she transforms to defend herself from James and also because she knows that the ritual James wants to do isn't gonna bring Mary but rather a demon,Maria knows that James must die here and now or the consequences are gonna be bad for everyone. In this ending James becomes like Walter Sullivan with the exception of the numbers of kills and the fact that James is gonna perform the ritual based on what little he has read, not teached like with Walter.
Right, even though Walter was acting on the wrong assumption that the 21 sacraments ritual was gonna bring his mother back to him, it was still a ritual done perfectly and to the letter. James has no idea what he's doing or what he's dealing with.
@@Ogmius-994 Yes. Adult Walter is like What I have done in the 21 Sacrament Ending but he did well the ritual. James on the other hand has very little information and its gonna do a ritual anyways. But the important here is how both characters becomes the same. They become killers in order to see once again a person they love the most. Blobber took the original notes about Walter plus how he acts in SH4 and made more interesting the Rebirth Ending. @@mykelmellen2378In the original James is tired of seeing Maria. In the remake he literally says that Maria's death is part of the Ritual to bring Mary back. That sounds like Walter Sullivan talking about the 21 Sacraments. The new Rebirth endings took all reference to Walter and turn it into a Path James can take. A very darker one.

This is worst as James has become like Walter in this ending. Hear well his tone and his dialogue when Maria mocks over him still wanted Mary back. All the team Silent games are psychological horror. The occult aspect is just the story focus of SH1/3. It's only the main focus in 2 games of the original 4. In SH4 it's an aspect but not a focus. In 2 it's in the background, another secret in this strange town that you might get a glimpse of. 2 also brings a lot of the towns other history in to play such as Toluca Prison, Jennifer Carol, the Baroness.
The town isn't evil or cursed. It's blessed land capable of putting human souls through hell on earth to save them from themselves. The issue are the corrupt humans using this blessing and the latent powers of the gods for completely selfish reasons like gaining personal power or resurrecting the dead. That's when the magic of the land turns against them.
Personally don’t like this ending. I like to think that James in in some sort of loop like others have said. Kinda makes sense with all the James dead bodies you come across and the written notes you find near them. It’s like he is trying to warn the next James. The stillness ending is perfect for me
The loop theory doesn't make any sense. James see his bodies because he thinks he deserves punishment/death for what he'd done to Mary. Each person sees the town differently. For example, Eddie saw his Bully's corpse, but James sees his own dead body. Got it now?
No, the "you've been here for 2 decades" message is a message for players who've been there since the original, not James. If James had been in a loop for 2 decades since the original, why Laura, Eddie and Angela appear in both of the games? Especially Laura.. It doesn't even make sense.
