I am a 4.0-4.5 player. I watched this video twice. This is high level of play. The girl on the pink team has a wicked two-handed powershot. Her partner is a banger who is the type I am use to playing, he over-poached on a shot in this match. The guy on the black team is FN awesome. He blocked a ATP shot and I like his style of play and his partner is also good. I really enjoyed this match, as it had some great shots, but the black team was dominate in their performance.
Very true. I find NJ to have the most accurate depiction for a rating announced. I comment on this alot, being from NJ, especially when I see Florida videos boasting 5.0 Dupr play and they may not even win 4.0 tourneys in NJ.
Everyone here is a 4.5 player. I am also 4.5 player. What you are watching is a tournament - no one is perfect during a tournament due to the increased level of stress. Most of these players are most likely ex tennis players. If you were to match up any of these players with 3.5 or 4.0 players during a rec game, those 3.5 or 4.0 players would simply get destroyed. If you want to understand the ratings, you can either look up the descriptions online or play with someone who is a former competitive tennis player.
I just watched another game 2 of the same teams playing. The speed and play is good. This is 4.5+. Those that say this is 3.5 because of unforced errors, those are not unforced. It is just good fast and athletic play that the younger group is playing.
Their shot selection is very questionable. If you understand shot selection, you can see that they are going for too much when it is not necessary, and this is indeed creating unforced errors. It is all ego. If they were to slow down and play the soft game to set up the hard game, one of these teams would crush the other without much effort.
lol, I don’t know these people but , here is your sign, if you think this is less than 4.5, if you don’t recognize the different skills on exhibit then you really don’t know pickleball.
People are prob using tournaments as a baseline where coward players sandbag and play down. Happens in tennis too. Chicago and Hawaii are the worst for sandbagging.
@@Largecanyondogpickleball and tennis around the globe have a sandbagging problem sadly, some worse than others but even my local small city has a lot of sandbaggers in both.
Good game, I would come down on a good 4.5 level. The team in black does have better shots. She has a great cross court tight shot that has to be placed with less power. The guy on the pink team is a banger with some good low drives. They all have roll shots at the net.
pink team guy was a banger that did okay at the kitchen. the girl wasnt a banger but her kitchen game was not as good as the black teqm girl. she would resort to a lob after the 3rd dink. so the banger dude had no option except to keep banging in hopes of winning the point early.
Definitely higher than normal 4.0 players but I would debate that the guy in white for men’s caliber level he seems like 4.2 too many pop ups and missed shots as well as over poaching and not finishing points when needed
Nah, they are better than 3.5 They actually can dink without popping it up. Although I think most players think that banging the ball makes you 4.5....it doesn't GOOD shots that actually drop at the kitchen line make you 4.5. Banging for banging sake is just another bad shot.
You are tripping if you think any 3.5 has the backhand flick the guy in black has. In any case, you can find the video uploader on DUPR. Currently sitting at 4.77. The partner is 4.99
I just rewatched and you're right, I'd give it a 4.0 play - 3.5 is a bit low. I've seen 4.5+ in person, and maybe it's just my demographic but they make far fewer silly errors and have much better game at the net @@grant5864
10 yrs of tennis will give you those backhand skills...or racquetball/table tennis. Shot selection is the proof...lost of serves were short and I didn't see any targeted shots vs backhands....although I wouldn't target the opposite side's woman's backhand at any time... @@grant5864

good assessment. The girl on the pink team has a nice serve too.

Finally a video that shows the true skill level play of real 4.5 players. There are a lot of mediocre videos claiming 3.5, 4.0, + play on RUclips.

I know these players. Zac is 5.1. This is the Open bracket. So many times Finals consistent of 4.75+ with guys usually having Dupr 4.9-5.2
Zac the dude in black?
High level, can't imagine how much better everyone is now.
This game was brought to you by KT Tape

Definitely 4.5+
Too many nerds in here complaining about what is/isn't 4.5.
Pink skirt's 2 handed backhand tho...WOW!
The Banger in the pink shorts is fighting on two fronts. The two good opponents in front of him. And the left side of his shorts.

No one gives a shit about pickleball
Guy in black is very smart player! 👍👏🏻
Sweet ….. I love the appreciation magicians have for other magicians, and yes, you are one of the best!
People thinking this isn’t 4.5 just shows how people think they are much better than they actually are.

I like that little jump you did at 1:23
Good game. Team in pink shouldn’t have been trying to use slice returns. Made the 3rd shot drop and drive much easier.
Pink team has too many underspin and looks strange

Nice game. What is this being recorded on? Quality is quite good
I recognize this location: it is Randolph Tennis Center in Randolph, NJ
Wait Montclair nj?
Asian guy's backhand flick is nasty.
Your partner plays a lot like me! Makes a lot of unforced errors but looks so friggin cool doing it!!!
John isner has a dandy pickleball serve
Seriously.....
Why the need to tap paddles after every shot?
It's to stop players from giving each other the STINK EYE when your partner screws the pooch
Definitely higher than normal 4.0 players but I would debate that the guy in white for men’s caliber level he seems like 4.2 too many pop ups and missed shots as well as over poaching and not finishing points when needed
No doubt in my mind that these are not 4.5 players. They have the skill set.
Pink team: slow your game down. Practice finesse.
Yelling “cmonnnn” and then saying to the other team great job and good points is cringe lmao. Celebrate and move on
Bad etiquette to cheer your opponents unforced errors.
If this is 4.5 level, it's possible that I am 4.5 too 😂 even though my DUPR is only 3.51

how can someone confirm it.
Video uploader's DUPR score is 4.77 and the partner is 4.99
The game starts a bit slow with a bunch of errors, forced and unforced, but the point that starts at 5:38 is solid 4.5 level play.
Do you play a lot of pickleball? Have you ever recorded yourself playing and watched it back?
Too many silly unforced errors to be 4.5.
4.5 still make errors it's not like to he a 4.5 you can never moss shots. Pros still miss shots and they're 6.0+
Enough of the paddle tapping nonsense after every play. Just get to your spot and play.
This is between 4.0-4.25
