Tom and Greg are playing 4D Chess while The Siblings are playing Checkers. The Siblings are too busy drag each other down while Tom and Greg are sneaking when there's a gap.
The show kinda downplays Tom for not being part of the family, but this episode we saw that he's actually a competent businessman. He most likely won his place in the company and wasn't placed in as Roman or even Greg. So I'm wondering that maybe the only thing that was tying him up was his love for Shiv and now that he's hurt he's truly unpredictable
So what I’m gathering is that Tom was just testing the waters with Shiv and Logan to see if they value him at all, he never intended to actually offer himself as the sacrifice play, and he figured out that they don’t give a damn about him and would see him off to prison just like that I’m interested to see where his character will be headed now that he knows he’s basically worthless to Waystar, maybe he switches to Kendall before he decides to go for immunity with DOJ or something
I don't see him betraying shiv like that, despite her failing the test. I think he will go for immunity or leave waystar all together. Kendall is too much of a wildcard to really bet on, especially with how messy it's becoming.

Much as I love Shiv and her relationship with Tom despite everything, it'd be interesting for a Kendall & Tom teaming up after Shiv sacrificing her brother to protect her husband only to consider sacrificing her husband like a few weeks later to protect the company and especially herself lol. And with Shiv going on the Loganification direction, seeing both her brother (blasting Nirvana's Rape Me during her speech) and husband (joining Kendall) stabbing her back may secure her decision to go full Logan and screw them all up?
