I've actually been wondering whether "Axe kicks" and "Leg kicks" were a part of traditional karate, thank you for these demonstrations. Also nice background music
Edit: Inspired me to learn the Yoko Tobi Geri, I think I'll learn it and try to pressure test it
Let ur efforts come true
Leg kicks like Fumikomi Geri (Stomping Kick), Kansetsu Geri (Joint/Knee Kick) and Nami-Ashi Geri (Returning-Foot Kick) are traditional, being found in numerous Kata.
However, high kicks are not, with many being appropriated from Savate by Funakoshi Yoshitaka, and others, like Kakato Geri (Heel/Axe Kick) and Kaitan Geri (Rolling Wheel Kick), originating in Kyokushin Karate. Atleast, that's my understanding.
