I fully agree with the camera approach. I also think it would be benefician to recreate your own living space in 3D in a way it looks in real life. You won't believe how much you can learn this way. You also have all the time and access you need.

Yup - but that's a more of a hyper-realism excercise, while I'm focusing more on aesthetics through composition

That film analysis topic is intriguing! Of course in films less emphasis is on the realistic lighting as opposed to architecture where how light behaves is part of the design outcome!

Depends if an archviz render is used as an evaluation tool for the design or as a stand-alone artwork, that builds on top of the design. For an evaluative render - it doesnt need to be "good" , rather it needs to be "correct". For an artistic render - it needs to invoke emotion. I think there's place for both in any architectural project.

@ I’m not referring to evaluation of any kind. I personally, for example, think often about these atmospheric cinematic emotional moments during the design, to visualize it as I punch openings into the room, what sort of light will a window let in, is it early morning light? Is it low winter noon light? Is it the dying sunset light? And that is decided by placement/ orientation for example, or cutout shape, or a slew of elements that can obscure the light like a gobo almost. Film however, would use a gobo as a fake effect. Or use a day light sun lamp from a north exposure window, which is an atmosphere you would never get in this room. I mean if that is the atmosphere you want then you need to move the camera to a room with openings that would allow the sun. I’m not sure if I did a good enough job explaining what I meant. In film atmosphere and the physical reality are disconnected, because no one is supposed to live in and experience a movie set, but in architecture you want people to live that cinematic emotional moment when they use the building.

Hi @Gediminas Kirdeikis, you have changed the location of your desk! It was in the corner of your room😄

Nope! Still in the same place. I just sometimes go to my armchair to talk.

I believe how good a render will look depends on perfect use of materials and good lighting setup but I am very weak in this area. I will be happy if you do something about these matters.
