Requested this for our local line dance lesson last night, and it was awesome! So much fun and not too difficult! A lot of us modified the apple jacks to be the Charleston, which still looks great but is a little easier for less experienced dancers.

I DONT UNDERSTAND WHATS GOING ON IN THE STEPS YOUR DOING TOUCHES BUT ON THE STEP SHEET IT SAYS NOT THAT IT SAYS HITCHES CAN YOU HELP ME
    SECTION 2
&-7Step down on left foot and hitch right knee up - Touch with right toes in front and across left leg
&-8Hitch right knee up - Step right foot slightly back and to the side of left (make sure right foot is NOT exactly next to the left, it MUST be slightly back for the next step)

Thank you for your question! If you see in the step sheet at the summary of Section 2 in bold, you see the they are written as toe touches. The choreographer, Noe, is excellent at putting details in the step sheets for dancers to follow. As the instructor here in this setting, lessons are taught rather quickly, and unfortunately, that means sometimes the minute details aren't in the forefront of the instruction. The first hitch listed is literally happening at the same time as the weight is transferred to the left foot, so you have to choose which step to call, and I have found in the many lessons that I have taught of this particular dance, with the first touch being across the left leg, then the second being to the right, most people naturally throw a little hitch in, just to get it over the left leg in time for the next step. Hope that clears it up for you! Enjoy. This dance is definitely one of my favorites!

Hey Camille, thank you so much for your instructional videos. Love them, very helpful. I am looking for the song Cake By The Ocean in the slower version you are doing the dance to. I have downloaded the song but my class is having a hard time keeping up with it. Maybe it is just we don't know that well yet. Can you help? I am on Facebook if you would like to pm me there. My name is Barbara Weems from Moulton, Al.

Barbara Weems you can always slow the song down a little until they get the hang of it.
