Hi, I liked your reaction. BTS rap line is lit af on stage, I'm amazed every time I watch them perform. :)
Just wanted to add that Suga was an underground rapper too and a songwriter before joining BigHit.
And don't believe everything the ARMY write on YT or twitter. J-hope wasn't a vocalist during trainee period. He auditioned as a dancer, and because at that time all Bangtan trainees were rappers, he wanted to "close the distance between him and others" so that's why he participated in rap battles, please watch this interview with Hobi ruclips.net/video/9UhfhMGL0pg/видео.html (turn on the CC). J-hope joined in Dec 2010, RM and Suga joined even earlier and there were also other rapper trainees in the dorm, for example Supreme Boi who eventually chose to become one of BigHit's producers. The vocal line was added half year later, basically BigHit changed their vision on the group which was supposed to be a rap/hip hop group at first (and all members rappers), instead they went for creating an idol group with rapping and singing. Jungkook joined in Jun or July 2011 as a first vocalist.
Having said that, it's true that Hobi took also some singing lessons during trainee period (because as he said in another interview, he liked to sing too) and even in one of their first interview he introduced himself as a rapper, dancer and vocalist. Here is a link ruclips.net/video/A5f_jDZCoqA/видео.html (again turn on CC). Hoseok really is a sub-vocalist in BTS, if you count all his singing parts - for example in: "I like It", "Beautiful", "Young Forever", "For You", "Mama", "Just Dance", "Magic Shop", "You Never Walk Alone", live version of "Spring Day", "Otsukare" - I'm sure there's more lol, and his hidden vocals in "I Need You", "Let Go", "Spring Day", "Anpanman" to name some. He's a Golden Hyung really :-)

Uva Yakone thanks for sharing some knowledge 💜 yea we definitely were just confusing ourselves. We knew Suga was a songwriter and rapper before bighit but we had gotten confused. Thank you! 🤗

Jhope was the first(among the BTW members) one to sign a contract officially with big hit entertainment as a trainee in 2009 (this was revealed by himself in seasons greetings 2019). He was the third trainee to join BTW group as member after RM and sugar. From burn the stage movie, yoongi mentions living a bit longer with hobi than Namjoon.
Also the rap line (J-hope, RM & Suga) are the main writers and producers among the members and all three have been involved with the albums discography since the debut. All three of them also produced and wrote the satori rap (the original one was released predebut BTS) which gained them attention and they even appeared on the Korean news channel. J-hope first made his debut as his birth name Jung Hoseok in 2012 as a rapper where he ft. On Jo kwon's solo song 'Animal' which was released in 2012(J-Hope wrote his own verse and he was 18years of age). J-hope was already well established for his insane dance skills (both choreography and freestyle) he was an underground/street dancer and had won many local prizes but also had won the National dance competition award for South Korea in 2008 and was very popular among the trainees. He has received vocal training (j-hope has spoken about this on voice). RM has been accredited for 100+ songs, J-Hope 85+ songs and Suga 85+ songs as well. This is including the different versions of their songs and Japanese translated ones as well. It's a shame that the intro videos always leave out J-Hope's vital contribution as a songwriter, composer, producer, etc when he has been equally involved along with both RM & Suga (you can check the credits online to verify this. Both RM & Sugar have spoken on many occassions about it). J-Hope &RM have also been nominated as solo artists this year for soompi awards. J-Hope is also the choreography/dance leader of bts (was since ddebut, but was only made public in 2014 and bighit even mentions jhope as the best bts dancer and choreography leader, if you read the captions in bang tan bombs and bts shows) when he first debuted in 2013, his position was and still is as a main dancer, lead rapper and sub vocalist. Initially, he would always introduce himself as "Hi I'm J-hope, I'm incharge of dance, rap and singing" to later it being "I'm in charge of dance" and then " Hi I'm your hope and angel, I'm J-Hope" to "I'm your hope, you're my hope.. I'm J-HOPE".. I have been an army since 2013 so this is what I have observed.
All the members now write and coproduce songs as we'll. The rap line is part of the copyright Korean music association as producers (Suga was the first one), I believe now the vocal line is as well aka all 7 BTS members are.

Suga is not Eminem of Korea. Eminem is eminem & suga is suga . He will never be on the eminem's level.

eye of the beholder bro... speed isn't everything. the best things about rap are the wordplay and the flow; I've never been very impressed with Em's wordplay, and his flow is... like... good, but it's not the BEST. idky people kiss his ass so much (and BTS rap line kisses his ass too, lmfaoo). go listen to El-P... that's a guy I doubt Suga will ever "be on the level" of.
on the other hand: I also hate it when people say an artist is another artist. everyone is their own person.

@@curvytangerine that's what exactly I say to people like people always say that Eminem rapping fast is impressive. They forget that most important thing of hip hop the lyrics. Em's Lyrics is good tier his wordplays, triplets , References & his flow no one can touch it. Like I need to listen to the song for like 20 or 30 times to understand all the bars.

@@jjangjjangbongbong4552 well, to each their own I guess. I think Em is very talented, don't get me wrong, and as someone who was born in 1986, my middle- and highschool years were jam-packed with his music. but there are major heavyweight lyricists out there that no one says shit about, and in my opinion he just isn't as sharp as them. there are also rappers that have equally impressive flow games.
I'm generally against saying things like "no one can touch them" about *any* artist. it's virtually never true.
I don't say any of this hatefully, btw. just trying to have a hip hop convo. and I thought it was a little low to shit on Suga out of nowhere, haha.
but for real, go listen to some El-P. he's an underground LEGEND. I believe only his latest solo album, Cancer 4 Cure, is on streaming sites, but you can find some of his previous work (Fantastic Damage, I'll Sleep When You're Dead, and Funcrusher Plus as a member of Company Flow). maybe you won't like it, and that's okay... but maybe you really, really fucking will.

@@curvytangerine ok I will check it out . Thank you for the suggestion . Joyner Lucas is also underrated too. For me in Kpop & BTS Rm & Zico are best rappers. They have everything in term of rap.

    • @curvytangerine

@@jjangjjangbongbong4552 Cool, I'll see about Joyner Lucas. Not familiar with him. Zico... I know he's a talented guy, but his work is very hit-and-miss with me. the song Day (날) from his Gallery EP makes me totally lose it, it's so hard 🤘 but Veni Vidi Vici, which most people go crazy over, does nothing for me.
And RM is absolutely incredible. Just incredible. Talk about having a way with words.
idk if you're into Epik High or Tiger JK/MFBTY, but those are some real veterans and amazing wordsmiths as well. when I think of "best in Korea," my brain goes straight to Tablo, Mithra, and Tiger. BTS rap line are my preferred "idol rappers" (though tbh it's hard to consider RM and Suga in that category as they came from the underground, and I like that Hope learned from them instead of the company).
