The V10 cars of the late 90s and 2000s had about 19k rpm, V8 cars of 2006 had 20k rpm, then it was slightly below 19k in 2007 and 2008. Then it went to about 18k in the latter years of the V8 era. The 2014-2021 V6 hybrid ones revved no higher than 15k and from 2022 onwards it is below 13k rpm.

      2024 cars are pretty much as fast as 2021 ones. Like, 2024 Bahrain pole is only 2 tenths slower than 2021 Bahrain pole(with the slowest 2024 car being 2 seconds faster than Haas and 1 second faster than the P18 in 2021), while 2024 Jeddah pole is half a tenth faster than 2021 Jeddah pole. And that's considering that 2024 cars are considerably heavier.

    Back when cars couldn’t follow, and it was just a parade, and then drag race in straights.
    People seem to forget how unraceable the previous years were. Even idiots nowadays spouting garbage about F1 being boring compared to the drag races of the Mercedes era that gunned for quali times and straight line speed as nobody could overtake on corners.
    Wouldn’t have seen 4-5 car racing that we have had in the last 2 years and this year due to dirty air issues and drivers dropping back instead of following through corners.
    Hopefully with the MGUH regulation changes we get lighter cars PLUS close following racing to make it even more exciting even in slow corners.
    Max being in a league of his own despite other cars being able to follow through corners, and then complaining about rocket ship, pure excuses when cars setup for race don’t even care about the top speed in straights in this current ground effect era, but rather cornering speeds as the DRS effectively nullifies straight speed setups now that people can get and stay in range of DRS. We saw the leclerc/verstappen drs battle in Jeddah in 2022 to know that already.
    Slower cornering for the sake of racing is here for a reason.
    If you want to go back to the boring parade fest of yester-era, feel free to watch the replays of those years. Nobody cared about f1 during those boring years.

    Modern f1 cars look slow, sound terrible, are heavy as cargo ships and are as big as them too. They have 0 soul and are against what racing is about. In 20 years, no one will look back and think "Wow those cars were so cool in 2024" like we do to the early 2000s cars. Make the cars 150kg lighter, smaller, simpler aero and 20,000rpm revving v10s and add back refuelling. The early 2000s formula with modern engineering and slick tyres would be CRAZY. F1 is quite literally selling its soul and I hope it comes back to bite them soon so they listen to the fans.

      You were correct untill you mentioned racing. Racing is not about the cars looking and sounding good. It is primarily about the overtaking, battles for positions. And 2022 regulations brought better racing. Cars can now follow closer to each other than in the 2010s, not to montion that the field was never this close. And how do you know about what would be the opinion of such cars in 20 years? When the cars got V8 engines instead of V10 people were saying simmilar things, while V8 regulations produced some of the best seasons in history such as 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012. 5 of 8 seasons of V8 era were insanely good and had both great racing overall and an interesting title fight till the last or one of the latest rounds of the season.
      What you have written tells nothing more than that you are a hater.
      And yeah, the current F1 cars look slower and sound worse than the late 2010s ones, worse than V8 ones and worse than V10 ones. But sound and looks are not the main goals, it is racing.
      You said "F1 is quite literally selling its soul and I hope it comes back to bite them soon so they listen to the fans."
      Well, F1 rarely listened to the fans, as I mentioned the V10 to V8 change wasnt seen as good, same with the V8 engines being swapped for V6 hybrid ones.

    F1 truly is a waste of money. All the bullshit about being more eco - just stop teams from wasting vast amounts of energy researching and designing crap cars. We all know why there was a regulation change to ground effect - to keep engineers and manufacturers engaged. It's nothing to do with the sport being enjoyable to watch.

      F1 makes rules changes to slow them down for years now. If they let the teams get on with it, the tracks can't provide the needed safety. The 2022 regulation were not invented to make the cars faster, it was the dirty air that needed to be adressed so cars could follow better. The 2022 regulation worked out. 👍👍

    • @jurekgadzinowski2895
      @jurekgadzinowski2895 Месяц назад

      You new here? F1 regulation changes of the past 3 decades were usually to make the cars slower. Grooved tires. V8 instead of V10 so the cars would have less power. V6 hybrid instead of V8, again, the cars got slower. It is pretty much like that since the 90s. New regulations are introduced and it takes time for the cars to catch up to the pace of the older ones, while sometimes they never do, like V8 werent faster in Monza than V10s, or how early V6 hybrid cars were slower than the V8 ones.

    • @jurekgadzinowski2895
      @jurekgadzinowski2895 Месяц назад

      The 2022 regulations have done anything but failed. They were introduced to make the wheel to wheel racing easier and to make the field closer. And guess what, both of these goals were achieved in 2022 alone and it only gets better from there. The field was never as close as it is now. The time differences in qualyfyings were never this small. Being a second away from top 3 means being knocked out in Q1 or Q2.

    • @Soneoak
      @Soneoak Месяц назад +1

      Idiots talking about lap times as if they mattered in real racing.
      The cars are driven to the limits. The speed of the car does not matter as the skill required to get to the limit remains as required. If bottas who isn’t a championship winning inconsistent driver can do a faster time, it means max would’ve done better in the same car.
      Back then, F1 cars with v10s had slow pit stops and even refuelling. They were also insanely loud and inefficient.
      They were only faster because of weight and inefficient power, and lacked lots of safety features.
      The regulation changes are meant to address technological issues like carbon emissions, fuel consumption, and even aero related issues like dirty air.
      They have been doing very well and making racing interesting to watch, far more since 2022
