My Gazelle ebike arrives in May. Before I even ride around the block I'll need to make my security decision since I live in a high crine area of Tacoma WA. With ABUS I'm seeing this lock, but also the next level Bordo non-alarm folding lock with the security rating of 15 versus the 10 on this alarm lock. My Gazelle will also have a standard café lock with an additional chain option. Great video. I will subscribe and like since we both see to be retired guys from the NW
I use four locks on my Cube Kathmandu. The café lock and additional chain, the Bordo, and the New York Fagetabouit chain. But, if a bad guy wants your bike and has the time he’s going to get it. I wanted a Gazelle, but they are just not big enough for me. Where in Tacoma do you live?
Well, I'd chose the Abus with security rating of 15. However you porbably cannot combine this with the one key feature with your existing café lock and the additional chain (option) because ABUS has two different key systems: the Plus line and the X-Plus line (showing also on your key card: the beginning X shows the X-Plus line)! 🤔 ABUS even has SmartX locks with no key but only your cell phone (with an ABUS App) to open. They all have the highest ABUS rating of 15. However as far as I'm concerned I wouldn't trust these locks because the technique could fail and you'd probably stand there with a locked e-bike. 😱
The one key feature is great. But notice that Abus has two different lock lines that have the one key feature: Plus and X-Plus. Unfortunately X-Plus locks are not compatible to Plus locks. 😱
Hi there - great video! Does the alarm sirene stop after a certain period after being triggered or does it just keep going till the battery runs out? Thanks!
After the alarm sounds, if there is no more tampering with the lock, it will shut off ater about 20 seconds. And, you turn it off with the key, of course.
I'm trying to wrap my head around it but it's not that bad here. I guess stealing peoples stuff is just to feed a drug habit. I'm retired from a Federal prison and they didn't put up with that there.
I imagine that people who steal have as many reasons for doing so as there are... people. Drug addiction being one. Regardless of the reason, I think this is a pretty effective way of keeping my CUBE Kathmandu in my possession.
ONE KEY FEATURE . wouldn't that mean that a thief can buy an Abus Bordo 6000 Alarm Lock and use his key to open other people's Abus Bordo 6000 Alarm Lock?
It isn't one key for all locks. It is one key for a bicycle and any lock that is matched with that. You need to work with Abus to match keys and locks.
Wow, pretty sweet will be picking up my e-bike by June(my 60th Birhday) and I'm gonna try to get this lock 🔐.. awesome review.
Happy birthday!

Thank you for this video. very informative
Been looking at this lock and seeing it in action action helps in making my decision.
Glad you found it useful.

Nice job doing the videos, great lock.
Thanks 👍

How do you key everything to the same key?
Well, I did a Google search and found this at Abus. It might help you. mobil.abus.com/int/on-road/Highlights/One-Key-Option
Anyone know why it won't work/make a sound after I changed the battery?
Sorry, I have no idea.
shame it doesn't have a key fob to turn it off
There is one that uses your phone in some fashion. Don't know anymore than that it exists and will cost you somewhere in the range of $240.

@@e-BikeLife An insurance for your eBike (original price) is an additional good choice (in case a thief steals your eBike despite your locks)! 😍

@@e-BikeLife Thanks very much for explaining.
