  • Hey Ya'll! welcome back to the Maker Bee Podcast
I chat about the M3D20KAL at the very end, if you want to get in on it than you can find the information on Mckenzie's IG page or youtube channel! ‪@EmtothethirdKnitting‬ (also coincidentally the only knitting channel content I really watch religiously)

Love the stash chat! I’ve never considered adding up what I have, but I’m sure it would be pretty sobering to see my stash that way. Something I find challenging when it comes to buying yarn more mindfully is when indie dyers have preorders - it feels like if I don’t buy during the preorder, I’ll never had a chance to buy that yarn again. I’ve gotten better at talking myself off the ledge, but sometimes it’s harder than others.

Your cloudbow dress is so nice! Truly a beautiful job.
I feel like this year especially people are taking using stash more seriously. May just be the sphere of people i follow, but it seems like the way inflation is going more people are taking it to heart to work from stash. I agree that going completely no buy is not sustainable, ive definitely bought yarn this year, but ive found displaying yarn i have plans for in direct sight on a shelf has helped a LOT with avoiding impulsive purchasing. I KNOW I want to use what I have and I have the vision, adding more to the list just seems exhausting lol.
Thanks for your notes on Bay, thats one i have on the queue for this year and I will keep your comments in mind for my own version :)

Hi there, just found your podcast. It’s lovely & I appreciate the discussion regarding values and actions ❤.
Hope this doesn’t seem too creepy but I’m also in Halifax and have a ball of lilac yarn in my giveaway pile if you want it for your partner pullover. I checked the pattern and it calls for DK. The yarn is Mineville Wool merino worsted but the recommended needle size is 4mm which is what I think the pattern recommends. I actually have a few colours in this yarn that you are welcome to have that may work? Another is pink.

Make the pattern by Steven West and review if you find it size inclusive so we can all see the journey. That be helpful to get your honest feedback ❤

I wanted to point out something that I just noticed about my podcasting that I want to improve on that I think might be relevant to you too so feel free to ignore. I don't think you're using enough light in your space because when you are talking about how vibrant and punchy that green yarn is, it's showing up mostly in shadows and we can't quite see that. I am having to move, like, 3 lamps around my camera to film now and it's still wonky 😬

I try to buy the same amount that I use in a year---- so about 10-20 100-gram skeins. this seems to keep my stash managable.

thank you for your discussion about size inclusivity and positive ease, its definitely a conversation necessitating nuance and i feel like you did a great job capturing that! i've been thinking about this a lot, i'm a mid fat knitter and i've recently decided to not knit "non-size inclusive" patterns even if it is "size inclusive" based on positive ease, mostly because a pattern with few sizes makes me feel like the designer wasn't invested in ensuring an intentional fit for people of all sizes, but instead achieved size inclusivity by accident :/ that being said, i obviously dont have all the answers, and acknowledge that these things come down to personal choice, and where we each "draw the line" is going to be different soooo ... basically its complicated lol 🙃 anyway love the podcast and thanks again for making space for these nuanced discussions
