I really enjoy this series because it doesn’t rely on jump-scares or something like that. It relies on the fear Your mind creates, and nothing else, and it does it by atmosphere, which is genius.
That cave sequence had me genuinely holding back tears holy hell that was good. The sounds of whatever that was just dropping into the cave and that last chase was horrifying.
My theory: The sounds you hear when something drops into the cave is the same as the player dropping into the level. I'd like to say whoever dropped in the cave was a different player, but more, eh.. "hacker"-ish than ever. Which is why that explains when the "hacker" gets too close to the player (moustachecleaner) the game boots to the menu.
There seems to be two constant themes in play here, spaces dominated by either suffocating darkness (Something Wicked, the areas above the lifts), deep water (Leviathan, V2 in the Well), or both (Cave), I think this is all culminating in some revelation of a tragic incident involving someone drowning, either being accidentally knocked or going in on their own
Could the town level be where God is trying to start over? He hid from humanity until they died and now he's trying again because of humanity's failures as seen from the terminals. The cave level could be god trapping v1 as he doesn't want to be seen and then sending him back. The white flashes could be v1 seeing god but he just cant comprehend him.

actually, there is lore. in ultrakill, god left earth because of the human experiment going wrong. the player somehow messes up so much that he manages to find the place god was hiding. "do not tell this to anybody" is god basically saying don't tell anyone where i'm hiding
as someone who watched the og cave section, the improvement is absolutely visible and amazing that entire section had an incredibly uneasy feel and the scare at the end was great awesome work as usual, moustache 👍

The level startup noise in the distance was probably the scariest fucking thing I've ever heard. Hearing a second V model enter the cave with you and hunt you is fucking scary to me, especially with the crawlspace-esque vibe this level gives off.

These environments are tailor-made to be as creepy and suffocating as possible, which is commendable in a game where you usually have so much mobility. It seems like whatever you stumbled across in these videos doesn't want to be found, and is becoming increasingly hostile to prevent you from doing so.

if the town level is supposed to be reached via 1-3, then how did you get in in the first place? also if you do a part 4 I’d like it if you tried to go into the town well or no lip into the houses, thanks that aside pretty good video

I checked the code and the TOWN level is actually accesable, you just have to not move in 1-3 for 5 hours. and even then it can cause game crashes and save corruption because it only has a slight chance to load
