    I have the most trouble figuring out the value of the resistor but calculating a resistor divider is easy for me

    But how on these tiny components, can you tell which end to read from, especially on the ridiculous blue resistors?

    Used to dabble around with electronics when I was I kid in the 70s. When components were something you could hold between your fingers, unlike now when you need a microscope to see them. How do electronic hobbyists manage nowadays?
