Ronny’s best interviews (see also Joel Kim Booster) are with people he’s friends with and admires. He really opens up and their relationship makes it so much more fun.

Best? This interview was awful. She couldn’t focus on promoting the show and he kept breaking the flow.

Single funniest 13 mins I have watched on TDS. The deconstruction of Ronny by Desi and Rosalind was exquisite. Their love for Ronnie is palpable as is Ronnies deep reverence for Rosalind and his bro/sis dynamic with Desi. No pretense, no on-air persona just people being AS THEY TRULY ARE!

I feel like I just spied on a family gathering. The new girlfriend dynamic was strong, even with Ronnie being somewhat pouty at the end, which Desi noticed and quietly gave him a soothing touch.
Meanwhile, “mom” had a sh!!-eating grin. She knew precisely what she was doing the entire time.
Naw, she was just getting in her shots because she knew that if she came onto the show she was conceding to being subjected to that embarrassing spider-man clip with her. She was just preemptively striking in a difusing way. Did you notice how she started out the whole interview stating as to how much blackmail she had on him? She already knew what he was going to pull. She wasn't going to just stand by and let that train wreck happen. Ha!
This was solid gold. And Ronnie is a national treasure.
Although, us Aussies like to claim him 😅

Ronny is the best interviewer. His interviews are the only one I watch every time. He's so unhinged and honest. I love that he always questions the guest's work, celebrity and their whole existence 😂

I felt exactly the same way as Ronnie - the “grammar” of the three body problem was so different to western sci fi!
This absolutely made my day. Rosalind Chao is the best. And Ronny and Desi just have such fantastic chemistry together. You can really see and feel how they're all enjoying themselves doing their work.
Jordan said Ronny is the nicest person. He could team up with anyone and it would be a hit.

Total chaos in this interview and it's great. Also to say that 3 Body Problem isn't science fiction is insane. It's the only science fiction.
I think it shows that sci fi is sometimes misunderstood. A lot of people think it's just stuff like star wars and star trek, even though star wars is more fantasy than sci fi

Sci-fi is always about people, relationships and change
Only truly great Sci-fi is like that. They speculate on how advent of new technology will impact humanity.
As opposed to bad sci-fi like BSG - where there is interstellar colonization, human-like androids, but somehow human society and physiology is identical to 90s USA.
The best SF, yes.
Not necessarily change in circumstances but a change from life as we know it. Take away one of the assumptions that we don't question, then what do we have?

This was an absolutely amazing interview. Tension is natural. We all have different experiences, and perspectives. Mutual respect gets us through all of it. And not only do we get through, we all come out better.
One of the funniest interviews about one of the greatest TV -shows out there. INCREDIBLE series and super close to what we are liviing now. and fun to see great friendships

I don't usually watch the interviews of actors on shows like this and late night and late show, etc. I am so glad I broke my own rule. This was glorious on every level.

The great thing about the US version of 3 Body Problem is that it isn’t afraid to depict China’s “cultural revolution” for the inhuman disaster that it was (not to mention so many of its other authoritarian policies of the last 75 years). Great show, and a really fun interview with Chao, an AMERICAN-BORN Chinese-American legend. 👍
I watched the Chinese version too, and there the Cultural Revolution was no fun time either. That felt even worse, because they gave it more time to feel oppressive and narrow minded.
@@KootFloris Sure, but it goes out of its way to absolve Mao and the CCP of blame, instead suggesting it was just out of control red guard types. The U.S. version pulls fewer punches, but honestly, some Asian or Asian-American filmmaker who doesn’t bow to the modern CCP should step up and make a film or series JUST about that era, even if they have to recreate China of that era digitally because they’d never be allowed to film it there. The contemporary CCP admits the CR was a disaster, but they’re quick to direct blame from the ‘glorious’ party too.

@@Coolestmovies Also true. Yes, I did feel the carefulness around current politics. But it made the personal dramas a bit intenser. The Western version is more a rollercoaster from action to action.
I binged 3 body problem on Netflix... amazing show. Rosalind was FANTASTIC. I ended up listening to the audio books right after... Can't wait for season 2!
