- What Evil Lurks is an EP by English band the Prodigy. The 12" vinyl record was released in a limited number in February 1991,selling around 7,000 copies. The title track sampled the introduction to the 1930s American radio show about adventure hero The Shadow, "What evil lurks in the heart of men?" The four songs were part of the 10-track demo Liam Howlett sent to XL Recordings when he was attempting to obtain a record deal. Before "What Evil Lurks" had released, "Android" got an early release in November 1990 and it was released on the expanded version of Experience. The original version of "Everybody in the Place" is featured on the record and is different from the eventual "Fairground Version" on the single with the same name.
The EP was re-issued in a limited edition on 27 September 2004, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of XL Recordings. In the Netherlands "Android" was at that time the floorfiller, so local version had it as an a-side with "Everybody In The Place" while "What Evil Lurks" and "We Gonna Rock" were both b-side.

The best Prodigy that ever emerged - Had this vinyl back when it got released and was way special back then.
Was changing hands at over 200 pound back in the day but the reissue has brought prices down a lot now!! 🤷♂️
This was the beginning and Charly spelled the end to Breakbeat/Bedroom rave with Charley says as I knew it. I watched this performed live at the Eclipse in 91. They sat in Watford service station after on the table next to us. Great times.

I bought this when it came out from Concepts in Durham believe it or not. 3.99. Sold it for £25 6 months later. Wish I'd kept hold of it lol must be worth a pretty penny nowadays

What, apart from it being pretty much the most sought after vinyl in the country for fkin ages! Yeah, really unappreciated. ... If you mean YOU didn't appreciate it, say that. But don't make blatantly false statements when owning this EP was gold dust and basically a status symbol.
All prodigy tracks are under appreciated... Except firestarter.. Which is great, but.... wouldn't make the top 20 they've made. That's how fucking awesome they are.
This track was never out on general public release, it was a "white label" which I believe basically meant that a limited amount of them were made available to certain DJ's on the rave circuit.

First tune I heard and I was hooked was so gutted after fatof the land thay had completely completely changed and I stopped

Мини-альбом, также миньо́н (от фр. mignon - милый) или EP (от англ. extended play) - студийный музыкальный альбом, который содержит меньше композиций, чем полноценный студийный альбом.
Изначально грампластинка, на каждой стороне которой помещались только 2-4 музыкальных композиции, общей длительностью звучания 15-20 минут.
В англоязычных странах этот формат в 1950-е годы стали называть «EP» - «Extended Play», чтобы обозначить различие между ними и синглами (SP; одно-, двухпесенными пластинками).
