- The Minnesota Twins lost to the Yankees 5-1 Tuesday, with their only run coming on Ryan Jeffers' 10th home run of the season. Things went much better down on the farm, as all four of the full-season affiliates won. Highlights include Pierson Ohl striking out 10 batters for Wichita and Yunior Severino, Chris Williams, Alex Isola and Michael Helman all homering for the Saints. Also featured tonight are Miguelangel Boadas and Byron Chourio.

Nice pick up on the Boadas bit. Will be fun to follow
I don't know if this math is right, but i got Jeffers on pace for 139 games played. If he has 10 right now in 36 games, that means hes hitting one every 3.5 games basically. So if my math is right, thats on pace for 39.
Ooh that swing speed graphic is crisp from MLB
Any update on Jenkins?
50 HR!
I’m not too mad with the Twins result. Poor defense and the hitting just wasn’t there against a LHP. The best bullpen arms are still available and hopefully better starting pitching, so I’m liking their chances for games 2 and 3
Willie Castro had a tough day in the field. It would be nice to have a healthy (I know that’s asking a lot) Buxton in CF
Come on twins gotta be better You got to beat the Yankees!!!!!!!!!
What are the chances Yasser Mercedes gets a call up to FTM
I wouldn’t anticipate that happening until maybe after the FCL season ends in late July. It’s too bad Jenkins has been out. Had he been moving up around now, as I would have expected, it would help clear a path for somebody else to follow suit.
Tom why do the minor league players so often swing for the fences when batting? Should they not try for singles, doubles, opposite field base hits? That should be emphasized more in the early innings when pitchers are sharper and batters I would think have the feel and advantage for better contact in the latter innings. Remember Ozzie Guein of the White Sox when he called Twin hitter’s piranhas and got under his skin regularly?!
I don’t think that’s the case. Sure, some guys are free swingers, but that generalization isn’t fair, in my opinion. There are a lot of guys who prioritize contact, it’s just hitting is hard.
I also think generally the good pitchers in the minors are more advanced than the good hitters. They’re often older/more experienced, too.
