@estebanrodriguez1456 yess exactly, that's what I mean, he's done afrobeats reviews in the past of Ammaaree's album. Fountain Baby is one of my fav albums ever tbh
This was one of the biggest hidden gems of 2024, which is ironic because Calm Down is THE biggest afrobeats song of this decade. I didn’t hear that many people talking about this new one but upon listening I was pleasantly surprised with heavenly vocals and beautiful instrumentals, along with some of the catchiest songs of the past few years.
Since Anthony is interested in futuristic and left-field afrobeats he would like to get in touch with artists like Lady Donli, Odunsi the Engine, Cruel Santino
I'm glad you reviewed this. I'm not into afrobeat BUT i landed on a rema interview when this came out and decided to listen to it. And i was lowkey shocked at how good it was, it put into perspective how much great music goes under the radar. MARCH AM, is one of my my most replayed song this year with every track Kendrick dropped this year, 365 by Charli, Timeless by Abel and Carti, Bird of a feather by Billie and, the Shaboozey hit, which i think speaks to how viceral and replayable of a song it is, incredible.
Please take a listen to Asake!!! His first album, Mr. Money With the Vibe is an amapiano / afrobeats / hip hop blend with incredible production. Work of Art is a small step below, and his newest album Lungu Boy is much more commercially focused, but still very good.
@@johnnegedu944 please what's the name of the original song I want to check it out , but villian ain't amapiano though, those drums are too dense idt they're log drums
This review won’t get the most views but as a west African it’s insane that he’s doing this. Finally, and Rema? HEIS?? I’m simply just so shocked ahaha
Glad you picked up on the Mike-Dean/Travis influence. You can tell he’s really inspired by that whole genre - if you watch any of the music videos from this album you’ll also see A LOT of Carti influence. Think it’s dope that he fused that Psych-Trap influence with Afrobeat.
As a Nigerian I am proud to see this being reviewed. I hope you listen to Nigerian music more as it might have helped you more understand this album. Rema made this album for the local scene in the line of Olamide or like Naira Marley, but with a more vibrant take. Please revisit this album after digesting more Nigerian music. Good job tho
A lot of really good afrobeats music coming out right now from a slew of talented artists would love to see you review more of their music in the future. Joeboy, Oxlade, Bnxn, Ruger, etc those are probably rly basic for someone rly into the genre but I feel those would be good starting points for ya to get into.
I think “Afrikan Alien” by Pa Salieu is similar to the good things this album delivers, if not a bit better in my opinion. And yes, it also has a problem with being a little short. But it’s still amazing. AND REVIEW FLO PLEASE?!?
This is one of your best reviews, Melon. Brief yet illustrative, and delves not only into individual songs but also on the album's qualities as a whole, and its place in a general context... it'd be nice to see you emphasizing these qualities more. Cheers for the video!
I always love when Fantano gives time to review more obscure, niche artists from other cultures. I got into this channel to be introduced to new music, so whenever this happens it’s always a joy
I really loved this album and was really wanting you to review it ever since it came out. Personally I think it’s an 8/10 but I agreed with a lot of ur criticisms too
I'm so glad you reviewed this album; next thing is we need to bring you up on some Naija slang; this will give more insights into his music. The song "March Am" lets you know how every Nigerian adores fast cars and wishes to be on top. Thank you for reviewing this Album.
This was totally unexpected but very much appreciatied review and as a nigerian there's so many upcoming artists genere blending and experimenting with western music/ influences and i hope you check out his other EP "Ravage" and more stuff from other artists
I can highly recommend this debut album that just came out today: ♫ LITHA - Good Girl Music-wise: Three-voiced Deep Dive Pop with Hip-Hop influences, really strong lyrics and they put on an amazing live show! :)
The chorus is catchy but the verses are meh and the lyrics are meaningless sexual garbage that we see in 99% of music The song is heavily carried by its production, 7/10
@@okene how do you expect a radical song to have a refined message besides ozeba is one of the most quotable songs in the entire album,a single word to describe ozeba lyrics is "riotous"
I didn't expect fantano to review Afrobeat album😅 You need to review more like Morayo, Adedamola and Born in the Wild. HEIS is not that good tho just average
About time! 🔥I remember Rave & Roses dropping and wondering why there is no Fantano Review. Rema is such a talented guy and has been providing Afro Bangers for years. Hope to see more Afro reviews in the future 🌍
Fantano on an Afrobeat record, Nice!!!! HEIS is a record that leave you wanting more of REMA's madness. Check out artists like Burna Boy and Asake when next they drop.
Another bonus I'll like too add to my defense of the relevance of heis: •Heis is good for mental well being it's not noise as most people claim,as most songs are upbeat, meant to make the listener hyperactive, especially within public events(and even in physical activities too),and at the end of the album rotation is a slowed tempo track , that'll reassociate the energy that has been lost in the past songs. It's a representation of a saying that goes "if you have a problem and the solution cometh not, leave it,then it'll arrive in due time", This BOW is definitely a mood shifter for those who are stuck in weak moments, it's not all the time,we need to reflect on our pains and cry, it's necessary to dance it away at times. •On the part of the audience it alters their behavior, they tend to become more fierce, resilient and ignorant of any thing that'll harm their growth,if such things tries to stop them from reaching their destiny, then they'll retaliate,On rema's part, this is a bold move, Originally afrobeat was against political injustice, before evolving into contemporary love issues, rave Lorde had a new focus -Which was positive self gratification and defense, moving ahead of the re-occurent themes of the present times, rema also acts as a Voice of the music industry saying "Enough is enough",to be sincere audiences have been too judgemental without actually focusing on the message on the song, and when the rollout is not in their favor, they end up calling an artist work all sort of names, he's not saying criticism must be abolished, he's only saying that you can only make a real difference only if you're an example yourself otherwise you're a hypocrite, social media has given it's users camouflage so they can drop any lousy comment and go Scott free, rema comes in disagreement that your internet presence is meant to be noticable not by chasing clout, why do you think he said in azaman (haters must to comment, agenda must agenda, internet gangster for real life you go collect),**rema applied the same level of violence in all his songs with an exception of Ozeba which is filled with playful/playboy antics, which is why it's loved,it and "egugun" are the only tracks that fully epitomize the club environment**I'm not saying rema's the first, I'm only saying he's the first to do it this way,so much so that it sparks conversations. •Heis made rema's Afro rave audible which is a problem to artistes who create subgenres which can't be differential from already existing ones, it's only a matter of time before it becomes dominant.
Wooahhhh... Been thinking what a fantano Morayo's review would be like and this just dropped! Untested waters for him 😂 keep it up melon and yeah he didn't miss on this, we Nigerians felt the same way about this album

The first afrobeat review. This is beautiful. This channel has many Nigerian fans, so it's longer overdue.

no way hes not a burna boy or wizkid before? or are they not considered afrobeat?
