Happy to help. Usually the chlorinator is fine- just the lid needs work. This particular one we were working on has had to have the lid "rebuilt" meaning gaskets and parts 3 times over the life of the chlorinator. Good luck on the project.
Our lid is smooth on top. No place to unscrew! Interesting. It is the 220 model. Put in 30 years after the pool was put in. All done daily manually until then. Lots of work for a 10ft deep 35,000gal pool! Now the lid is impossible to seal after 2 years.
Thanks for reaching out. Your best bet may be to buy a new lid- which will come complete with all the pieces we highlight in this video in a new assembly. Here are a few options for the CL220- Factory replacement lid: amzn.to/3W3eGAt (This lists as CL200 but in description it makes it clear it fits both. Aftermarket part: amzn.to/4cY0oYD (Cheaper and good reviews but not made by Hayward) Hope this helps.
I had mine for 2 summers. Already leaking through in line. I put jb weld around the leaky ring. But now i need to remove or melt away the bottom tray where it stands. This thing is too expensive to throw away for a leak.
@travelbuildcreate it's leaking close to the inline where u screw in the small hoses. But I got it to stop. I put some jb weld with 3000 psi hold pressure and then sprayed some flex seal around. Good to go. Thanks for the reply.
Thanks! You helped me out big time. Saved a call to the pool guys.
Excellent! Glad we could help.
Having the same issue. Was quoted $400 to replace entire chlorinator. Will attempt this fix first. Thank you for your video

Sorry to hear that. Is the leak in the housing or at the connection?
