Same is true for many US states- but this one is in Florida. No regular safety inspections take place. We were once stopped by a few local police while driving a lifted truck. One said to the other- "isn't there some law about bumper height?" the other said he didn't know and they moved on.

If you use a hand screwdriver you can get away without marring the paint. With a drill you probably will. If you really want to keep the finish perfect you can dip your screwdriver in Plasti Dip ahead of time.

@travelbuildcreate I would rather use gold coloured screw head covers then you have a better finish aswell and don't see the screw or the head whatsoever. They probably cost less than your tin of spray paint aswell.

@@UNORTHODOXONETOO lots of options for how to do it. In this case we wanted a color match to the shelf brackets. We could have mounted the shelves with no brackets- but this project has more of an industrial design.
