Moving Peach's Cage in NSMBW

I thought about doing this at one point but figured nothing interesting would actually happen.
It wasn't until KingYoshi's video about doing this in the DS game that I wondered how this game would handle Peach's cage being in a different spot.

Actually RUclips's Recommendation System is just utter crap, half of the time it'll recommend videos that are in my Subscriptions Box & Not anything related to the video I'm currently watching, another quarter of the time the videos are ones I've already watched or worse: clicked on but left before the end, 10% are trending videos, 5% are my videos, with the remaining actually being new videos I might enjoy.
Still wouldn't get rid of the Recommended Videos section though, like 85% of the channels I'm subscribed to are from being recommended their videos. I've said it many times before and I'll continue to say it: The day RUclips gets rid of the Recommended Videos section is the day RUclips has truly gone to Hell.

What would happen if you lowered the button platform so that mario would get hit by the final lava wave?

Does anyone know whether the position is tracked as an integer or a float? Because if it's an integer then on the one where she's placed below without any blocks she would almost certainly underflow and eventually (like after 4 years) land back on the platform. Of course, I'm sure it's probably a float, in which case she would eventually just get stuck due to granularity (too bad we wouldn't get to see it). Either way, I doubt the death plane would stop her because I feel like that should trigger the animation.
On the bright side, Mario doesn't have to save peach anymore.

What would happen if you moved the cage's switch to somewhere else? Like during the giant bowser fight?
Peach isn’t programmed to hit the kill plane and lose a life. So she will just keep falling forever...

So thats how it works. Mario is programmed to look at Peach, not already adjusted to look in the direction of where Peach is. The game needs Peach to land in order to start the part where Mario jumps in joy for rescuing her, unless the game has something else planned. If Peach never lands on anything the game may softlock...and the game wants Mario to be in the perfect spot under Peach's cage. In the first one, the game noticed Mario wasnt in the perfect spot, and he is supposed to get to this spot. That spot was a pit. The game doesnt know that so Mario falls into the pit. I was actually expecting some kind of invisible surface to be there, but the game followed the usual rules and Mario died even though it was in a cutscene. Nice!

I would have thought the models/animations would be, "locked" in a sense, and that Mario would look the same direction regardless of where Peach actually is...

You should have placed a brick block above mario and then placed peach's cage on top of the brick. This way, when Mario jumps, he might break the block, which would make peach fall on top of mario. I'd like to see if this actually happens, or if something different will happen.
