I love this song. This is excellent. I think the Stan Rogers version has to be considered the best (a rare example of a cover being better than the original).
Looks like an Octave Mandolin (aka Octave Mandola) to me. My guess is that it is tuned GDAd like a short scaled Bouzouki. This is essentially the base end of DADGAD in reverse, giving you the option of playing it this way: - ruclips.net/video/_XUVOX6HpBQ/видео.html or something like it. Hope this helps.

Actually, Heather Alexander's is the best. She gives a different voice to each character in the story, and had a supernaturally piercing voice.
Whoa! This definitely gives even Stan Rogers version a run for its money. Huzzah!!
lovely performance
Wow! Outstanding!

Great song. I remember seeing Fireside Knights play when I lived in Leeds. Anyone know what's happened to them? Are they still in music?
wonderful interpretation , jealous we don't get this in Oz , Melbourne ,
Is Mark playing an octave mandolin? I'd love to know what tuning it's in - your performance is very inspiring.
