    I love this song. This is excellent. I think the Stan Rogers version has to be considered the best (a rare example of a cover being better than the original).

      Actually, Heather Alexander's is the best. She gives a different voice to each character in the story, and had a supernaturally piercing voice.

    Is Mark playing an octave mandolin? I'd love to know what tuning it's in - your performance is very inspiring.

      Looks like an Octave Mandolin (aka Octave Mandola) to me. My guess is that it is tuned GDAd like a short scaled Bouzouki. This is essentially the base end of DADGAD in reverse, giving you the option of playing it this way: - ruclips.net/video/_XUVOX6HpBQ/видео.html or something like it. Hope this helps.
