I took care of my mother for 13 years after she got to a point where she couldn't take care of herself. One great thing about that was she taught my (couldn't cook) behind how to get busy in the kitchen. I learned a lot but near the end of her meeting God she struggled to try to remember how to teach me to make Egg Custard Pie. Poor thing, she forgot some things in the recipe and I never quite got it right. I promise my sister who loved her pie I would get it right and it appeared that it would never happen until I looked up your recipe and that is the way my mom made them. You are such a blessing with your gift of cooking! .... Larry

Listening to you takes me back to my childhood I was raised by several women as my mom had her hands full taking care of elderly relatives. All of those ladies were great southern cooks. Wish I could go back and learn how they did the things they did.

I’ve been using your recipe for a couple of years and it’s the best egg custard pie I’ve ever had. My dad said it tasted just like grandmas. Thank you so much for this video. ❤
Mrs. Mae Mae, I can't thank you enough for your cooking wisdom. Your cooking style brings joy to my heart. My grandmama made many of the dishes the same way. This certainly reminds me of her Clay County, MS cooking, I hope my version makes you both proud, thank you. Please don't stop making the videos.
I personally enjoy old school cooking from the older people, such as yourself, because I know it's going to be good, which reminds me of how my mom used to bake, before God called her home, I enjoyed all your video's. Have a blessed and prosperous Christmas.
Thank you for sharing this brings back great memories from my grandma, Nellie Stovall she lived in Camden, Arkansas, she would make these egg custard pies every Sunday just about my grandfather Rob Stovall loved them & we would have the pastor & family every Sunday for dinner along with aunts & uncles. I sure miss those days. I will be making it soon. To share those great memories with my son who is now 31 yrs old. He never had the opportunity to experience great old school family cooking from my grandma. Bless you & your family. Thank you again. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much Miss Mae!!! I have a cousin in Virginia that makes egg custard pies and they are so good. Went to see her this summer and she has gotten so sick and i just love her pies and was so hurt that she hadn't made any when we were there. Now I can bake them. Thank you.

Hey Roxie. Good to hear from you. Glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your father that is still here with you. That’s a blessing. I appreciate the pie crust tip. I never used or seen that brand in the store before. If you don’t mind telling me what store did you find it at? Thanks for the feedback and enjoy your weekend.
I got them from.Wal-Mart... I live in St. Louis, Mo. But im sure you can order on line. The brand is a line full of frozen dinners and dessert. Hope you try them! Delicious😊
Miss Mae. Oh my! I’m an older cook and love your videos Love learning your way! My grammy’s name was Mae💜 you put so much love into your cooking and love the history of the recipes L😘😍👌
I had a request for an egg custard pie. I have never made one. I watch your video and decided it was the right one for me because of the evaporated milk,so I made it today and it turned out great. I hope the gentleman friend of my husband like it. Thank you for recipe. I
Hi Miss Mae Mae. I remember as a child, visiting my Grandmother in Texas and her making egg pies. Some call them custard pies, others put flaked coconut in the batter and call them coconut custard pies. Either way, they all taste good. As always, you are a blessing and I love your channel. Thanks!!
This is a childhood favorite that I've been craving. I knew I could count on you for a recipe. You're right. It is simple. I'll be making this weekend.. Thanks!
I heard the voice and knew this would be a good recipe. Not one of the fake recipes for entertainment value. Not a random recipe never before tried but presented anyway by an “influencer.” That southern mama voice means it will not only taste great, it will comfort and bring back memories. And she teaches kindly and patiently too, just like a mama or grandma would. And my granny’s name was Mae, spelled the same. I’m glad I found this channel!
Thank you so much for sharing this! When I was a teenager my grandmother asked us grandkids “whats your favorite dessert because I’m gonna make it for you and teach you how to make it”. My grandmother was a FANTASTIC cook and made all types of food and dessert: duck, turtle, chicken, roast, frog, squirrel, tomatoe cobbler, blackberry cobbler, peach cobbler, banana pudding, sweet potato pie, and egg pie. I loved all her food but I didn’t want to go through a lot of trouble making me something so I told her “an egg pie”. I lost the recipe and as a teenager I didn’t realize how much I’d regret not knowing any of her recipes. I’m 48 years old now and I’m now a grandmother and my grandmother has been gone for around 12 years now but she would have been 100 years old this year. I’m definitely going to make this pie and I’ll probably smile and cry the entire time I eat the first slice just thinking about my Madea! You’ve got me in tears right now. But thank you so much
My mom passed away two years ago before I got a chance to get her recipe for egg custard pie. I’ve been searching RUclips for the recipe and didn’t see any that was like hers, until I saw yours. Thank you so much. I knew it was her recipe when I saw the evaporated milk.
Oh my goodness. Tou remind me of my mawmaw when she pokes her egg pie. She died on my birthday about 5 years ago. She loved me helping her cook. And that was our favourite thing to make together and eat. I started crying because I miss her so much and I have to say you have made me smile and laugh tonight. May God bless you and thank you so much for making this mississippian girl feel loved once more.
My father's mother's middle name was Mae and her name was Willie Mae Johnson she was a remarkable cook. You remind me of my mom's and grandmother's cooking.
Looks like my mother 's custard, she made the absolute best. Egg custard, banana putting or lemon meringue was dessert on Sundays. I just might try to make this . Bring back memories 😊
Thanks,👏 l miss the egg custard pie haven't had one since my brother passed, l think he uses butter milk. He never gave any one his secret egg custard pie but it was amazing.Again thanks for your ingredients in how you make yours.Be Bless.

Thanks!!
I luv it custard pie. Mama and Grandma used to make them all the time. I love watching you cook you're so sweet and kind ❤️.

This is a childhood favorite that I've been craving. I knew I could count on you for a recipe. You're right. It is simple. I'll be making this weekend.. Thanks!
This is my favorite pie , by far . And your recipe is the best one ive done , and the easiest. Thank you for sharing it .
Thank you so much for this vodeo. I've been wanting a egg custard pie recipe that is authentic.
And yours is given with authentic sweet love!🌹
I am making your recipe tomorrow for my sweet 86 yr old Mamma!
Its her favorite pie!
Thanks!
