I'm full-size since I also have a work setup baked into my complete setup (KVM and whatnot). I make good use of the number pad and function keys, and it balances out my 49 inch super-ultrawide and 80 inch wide desk nicely :)
75% is my favorite size for a desk but 65% is my favorite size for travel. If I didn't have a couple of games that needed lots of keybinds then I would be pretty hard committed to a 65% at all times.
I expected something similar to GMMK, but my expectations fell apart once I saw this keyboard. I was hoping for something high standard from Nzxt, but instead they just made a cheap low quality keyboard But the mouse was decent, though it still has some input lag compared to other competitors.
"High standard". The one's who haven't learned how to make a case that doesn't suck with airflow and don't add anything to the next iteration of the case? Those high standards? The same high standards that chocked off m.2 airflow of their mobo? The one's that when they announced a new case with airflow in mind they added a screen in the front? The only thing they have going for them is minimalism. And they can't even do that well without causing fires. The puck they have for headphones is good
There are boards out there with better build quality for the same price. By the time you put money and effort into making the experience better you could of built one for cheaper and to the spec you want. You don't have to be an enthusiast to build a better board. As far as mass production, anyone with the heart could out perform this board.
I think it's more about having the mouse to the right closer to the keyboard, making your posture better. So for me, 65% keyboard-mouse-external numpad.
I watched your video about 2 months back as a review for this keyboard. You where the reason I decided to spend my money on this and I am very glad I did. This keyboards build quality, Switch quality and the sound of the keys sound very premium. I have been through quite a few keyboards in my time with computers and its normally a switch goes or some feature of the board. This keyboard every part is basically replaceable meaning you buy this once and you'd never need to buy another again. Would honestly recommend this keyboard to anyone!
I'm a tkl with a usb numpad. I like the tkl + numpad combo, except it works best when you have a numpad with a detachable cable, and a tkl kb with a usb port, and both can be hard to find. Being able to move the numpad to left or get rid of it entirely is a really nice feature.
i have the ten keyless, and their new mouse. i have zero issues, i find the price fine tbh... ive been using pc for over 10 years now, and this has by far been my favorite mouse and keyboard
Personally I think the remapping UI is pretty straightforward and user-friendly. Yeah, it's a bit of a hassle to havta drag and drop to remap, but it seems intuitive and it prevents the problem of losing a key to the abyss if you remapped it and want it back. For example, going with your suggestion of clicking on a key, and then pressing the remap to remap it, if I remap my Esc key to just be another letter X key, well how do I remap something to Esc now since my Esc key has been remapped to X? You could reset everything back to the original for just the purpose of remapping, but what if I switched out my keycaps to match my remapping, then I'm not necessarily going to remember the old default mapping.
Very good review man. Love the honesty shown here. I agree with your points made here. As for my preferred kbd size, I would have to go with full size actually. I cannot live without the numpad I use it too often
I'm really into full size but with the numpad on the left side or removable (Everest max) nice to have the buttons without losing mouse space

My main preference is no doubt, FULL-SIZE keyboard since I use numpad A LOT for my gaming and works. Of course, more sizes are welcomed for me to try with.
I'm still living in the 90s, full size. I've found when I use a smaller size in my personal time and then go into work and use the assigned keyboard it takes me a couple hours of that Monday trying to adapt again to the size.
65% or mini TKL is perfect for me. I typically use only the 40% part of the 65% keyboards for work related typing with both hands on the keyboard but it's nice to have dedicated keys for when I don't have both hands on the keyboard, like when I'm watching RUclips videos or just browsing web pages.
I like 65% and 75% layouts as long as they have blockers. I am not into compact board. I like the way boards with blockers look and I find them easier to use.
I do believe that the “NZXT” button is there to launch the application “NZXT cam”, but I’m not sure, I’ve seen many gaming laptops with keyboards that have a key containing there logo, when pressed on launches there gaming suite. Perhaps it’s that? Anyways keep up the great work Frank, love your content especially your filming techniques. 🔥
I'm honestly only a fan of the mini TKL through the BLD program, just for the colors, but there is always room for improvement. The audio adjustment roller on the left side is a new thing, but people may like it!
Well appareantly i live in the 90s, i have a full size because i use it for CAD work and that numpad is much easier and faster to use than the numbers row when you have to input a lot of numbers.
“Full if you’re still in the 90s” 😩 I need that num pad for work!! Any full sized you’d recommend that aren’t…a mess? I’ve looked at separate num pads to use in addition to a TKL or something but am kind of at a loss and have given up at this point haha
I like full all the way for my main machines and coding. TKL works great for my HTPC (home theatre PC). Although I also use a full size Logitech 613 (had it and love the Logitech's mechanical key feel a bit heavy though) in the bedroom's HTPC along with a TKL.. I also find full size keyboard, in particular Logitech G915, not an incumbrance when gaming.
I like full-sized keyboards mainly because I stream and I use the numpad as my stream deck pretty much, I have it setup to switch scenes and start or stop the stream. I even have my instant replay and screen shot button on it. My discord mute and deafen is also on there. So I use a full size numpad as macro keys
65% FTW :) Maybe see if you can review the upcoming QK65, made by the same people who make your Jelly Epoch, but a budget friendly version that's cheaper than any of these high end gaming keebs.
I personally like full only cause of the various programs I use and games I play that the numpad just adds extra keys for various functions. In any other instance, TKL is perferred.
Full size is pretty much the ONLY option for those needing to do CAD and work based applications, depending on the job and application. I like a compact Tenkeyless at home (Keychron k2) but wouldn't be against a larger 75% layout depending on desk space.
I am bouncing between 65% and 75% but I am leaning more towards 75% as the best midlde ground between size and functionality. Keep the arrow keys + function rows + some nav keys, all in a rather small form factor. What's not to like? Currently rocking a modded ID80 v1 with JWICK T1s as my daily.
TKLs are fine but anything more compact or laptops suck because I want to seamlessly hop from computer to computer and be proficient without needing to relearn a funky layout.
Honestly it depends but I tend to lean towards either 65% and 75%. I just ordered a Iqunix og80 which I guess will be my first 80% which basically is a 75%? Honestly not sure lol.
I think these were made to be bundled with their BLD PCs. For products that you would get with their BLD PCs, these are really good. Obviously these are not good keyboards, and the mouse is pretty average, but these are extremely good for starting peripherals. However, HP might have the upper hand if they start using HyperX peripherals with their PCs.
how would the feel of this compare to the original pewdiepie keyboard, my friend has one and i prefer it far better than mine, but idk if im ready to comit to 60%
glad to see the team at nzxt could make a great product in this industry. they might not be really sure of the industry standards and the consumer base's wants or needs, but the functionality of their keyboard was really impressive. they really clicked all the boxes and that tiny scroller would be so damn useful. excited to see how things develop in the keyboard world in the next few years, mind you Im one of the poor souls who hopped on the nk65 just to see things explode in my face LMAO lets do this shit
I think that NZXT has completely missed the mark with this keyboard as Frank said. 1. Increasing variety of accessible, in-stock switches 2. Budget friendly cases from top-tier stores like NovelKeys, KBDfans etc 3. The attention to detail and end-consumer experience such as pre-lubes stabs or switches. NZXT has completely missed an opportunity to capitalise on the boom in custom keyboards. I personally would have loved it if they released a barebones kit (case + pcb) like Glorious which im sure they could have done for either a cheaper price due to their manufacturing prowess or higher-quality/variety, You get the same experience with a $40 base reddragon keyboard. Bad luck NZXT
RandomFrankP please please tell me what's the name of the live steam wallpaper you're using!? I love it! 😃👍⭐ Good video by the way... The stabilizers yikes!!! Really bad I agree. I work in retail but I can not recommend this keyboard for many reasons...
After they've updated and fixed most of the issues and cons I might get the Tenkeyless version (white) and buy a keycap sets for it. They need to make a version with Nordic Layout though
I think you missed the boat here as did NZXT, you can't complain about the upgrade to black ink if you compare to something like the GMMK Oro at $160 you don't get keycaps and switches... So compare apples to apples, (order with the basic and it is still $120) take the switches and caps out of the equation and look at the build quality. Maybe get the base of each add the same parts and look at those differences. I would argue that this puts them in line with other starter customs and yes if you don't want to do any of the work then you will pay the $$$/hr to have them build it. You can't review the quality one way and then turn around and change the perspective, it is either a custom or a custom pre-built.
Hello. if the NZXT cam is asking me to firmware update do I have to do it? will it cause any harm to the rest of the pc? I've never done this and just wanted to be careful by asking.
I like the TKL format. But whatever you call GMMK Pro's layout is my preference. Pretty much the same as the mini tkl. I like having access to F1-F12 and reassigning del, end, pg up and such to macros
I think for the Pro it would be considered a 75% layout from similar that I've seen online. But I agree I really love the size of the Pro as it's such a perfect fit for me.
I guess I'm old because I strongly prefer full size. I just never even think to type numbers using the top row. My fingers just instinctively go to the keypad.
I'm not sure what the issue with the switches is here, black inks are 0.75 per switch, there is absolutely no way anyone would sell a keyboard fitted with them for $120, unless it was a number pad on its own maybe. It looks like the cost to add them is a little over 0.75 per switch, but only by like $6 or so. And if you really wanted to save that $6 you could get standard switches and buy the inks separately.
There was a macros thing under the Lighting section? I still am a Full-size fan because I'm not a fan of the memory and occasional finger-gymnastics I have to do when accessing the function layer and also because I type in a foreign language where I need easy access to accented letters via ASCII shortcuts. Well actually to be honest what I'd like most is a TKL with attachable numpad like the Everest Ultimate does it so I can move it over to the left but I don't feel anyone has gotten that right yet aside from the Everest Ultimate which is impossible to get where I am in the world (and insanely expensive, like 2-3 times the cost). I've also decided that low-profile keys is where it's at for me which pretty much locks me into Logitech currently. Give me a left-side-numpad full keyboard with low profile switches and I'll buy it in a heartbeat even if non-removable numpad.
"A full size for people still living in the 90's."
Lol, why you gotta roast us like that Frank.
I'm full-size since I also have a work setup baked into my complete setup (KVM and whatnot). I make good use of the number pad and function keys, and it balances out my 49 inch super-ultrawide and 80 inch wide desk nicely :)

Nzxt can’t even make a case that has good airflow or doesn’t catch on fire. Idk what high standards you were expecting.
Oh shit the fuck up it’s a nice ass keyboard! What can you build a better board and mass produce it?

I just love 75%, you don't really lose out on any keys but it is still smaller than TKL
Appreciate that you’re not afraid to bring the heat. Exposure like this makes consumers have a better experience. Real one.
oh god! This is the answer to my prayers! This is exactly the keyboard that I want, compact TKL, flat base, no beveled edges!
i have the ten keyless, and their new mouse. i have zero issues, i find the price fine tbh... ive been using pc for over 10 years now, and this has by far been my favorite mouse and keyboard

60% is my favourite no doubt. Once you get used to it it's pretty rad. I'm using the HyperX Alloy Origins w/ Red Switches.
I used to be a sixty persent guy but now i love the tlk
i use a full hyperx alloy origins with reds. actually a really good option considering my desk size but it’s a bitch to lube or mod

full keyboard is definitely an necessity for anyone that has to do any work that would involve any numbers , it's not 90s
1800 is the goated layout. Fullsize function, TKL size.
The stabilized keys sound like that one old dell mechanical keyboard from the early 2000’s that everyone seemed to have.

That dedicated NZXT key was F14. That was quite useful playing some games.

the mini TKL looks kinda lit ngl, since I'm a big fan of 75% layout, mini TKL looks like the next gen of 75%
I use a full size keyboard because I’m a student and the num pad makes my math classes so much more convenient
4 months later, they dropped the price of the boards but increased prices elsewhere... $20 for cables, $90 for Gateron Ink, $20 for custom keycaps..
I'm a college prof so full size keyboard. I always need those number pads on the right. Specially when I'm computing and encoding grades.
Is the Ducky One 2 Mini still a relevant keyboard?

Well actually to be honest what I'd like most is a TKL with attachable numpad like the Everest Ultimate does it so I can move it over to the left but I don't feel anyone has gotten that right yet aside from the Everest Ultimate which is impossible to get where I am in the world (and insanely expensive, like 2-3 times the cost). I've also decided that low-profile keys is where it's at for me which pretty much locks me into Logitech currently. Give me a left-side-numpad full keyboard with low profile switches and I'll buy it in a heartbeat even if non-removable numpad.
I’m a 96% guy. Unfortunately that layout is grossly under produced which makes keycaps and PCBs so hard to find
mine is an older membrane LG915 with 18G macro keys (essentially a whole other num pad). larger than full keyboard standard. it's antique
that typing test is giving me motion sickness from the camera movement lol
Would have to say I like the TKL style for gaming, but for the work I do, that number pad is almost required.
