The line rings on spool are for percentage of line out / spool capacity . eg 1st ring from top indicates 1/3rd of line is out OR 2/3rds of the spool is full. Not a distance indicator as there are to many variable with that.

I may get the 200 or 300 model for Giant Snakeheads, Barramundi and Mangrove Jacks

I really like those brakes. Not magforce z or svs infinity but still better than straight magnetic. My lews custom speed spool has brakes like those but only 4 opposed to the penns 6. May need this reel.

I no longer own it as I developed arthritis in my elbow and it’s a bit heavy but my mate has it now and loves it. Great piece of kit

Liked the unboxing review really comical and informing "but" 😅 now I've to go price it.

The n01 scheme is a Shimano thing. The lefthand Fathom would be a 300LPLH.

What's the best rod to pair it up with?

I would guess a MH to Heavy rod. I’m no expert here but look for something that can throw the lures you want. There is an excellent RUclips channel called “SaltStrong” that fish like this. Check them out they could help

@@gera9910 depends on where you want to fish also. But generally a 7 foot rod is good for bays and backwater situations for reds. You don't need anything too big for that size redfish. Personally I'd use 10lb test braid, a medium action 7' rod and the Penn for where I'm from, the Gulf coast of Florida. Maybe use 15 or 20 lb line if you don't have much experience.

They should be good reels as they're basically rebadged ABUs.
