    Here's Angel Romero showing what makes this 1958 Hermann Hauser II a truly exceptional guitar - the speed of recovery of the strings, the evenness and balance of the voicing and the incredible and even sustain, all illustrated for us by one of the great players of our age. Recorded at the Guitar Salon showroom in Santa Monica, CA.

      Judging by this video, he has a strong desire to pinch the strings and beat them at the bridge of the guitar .But this reduces the dynamic range of a good guitar . The sound from this becomes rougher and sharper if it were extracting sounds over the rosette .

    I found this discussion and his insight along with the examples really very helpful. It would be interesting to see more discussions about the the instruments, not just playing them. Does that make sense? Helping the listener to understand the unique qualities of the instrument and even how they compare.

    What Angel is talking about is the necessity of harmonic development of each & every note (attack of the note,the heard fundamental of that played note & the harmonic continuation of that note) has to mimic the individual 'Voices/Colors' one might hear from an Orchestra playing in a good Concert Hall. I honestly can't listen to Non Acoustic based music for the fact that there really isn't enough Dynamic Contrast in the music to keep my interest . (He,he,he .... There really isn't much Development of Harmonics in Electric based music as these are an Acoustical trait)

    I think mass production of guitars ought to be forbidden. Only handmade ones with the best available materials. For beginners luthiers can build simple instruments without all the bling like inlay and bindings. Maybe just a simple binding to protect the top and thats it. With enough market-, because of the mass production stop, -luthiers can make guitars affordable for beginners.
    Things used to be this way in Spain before WW1. Affordable instruments with solid woods. It can be done, but more people should be aware.

      Angel is over 70 years old and is a legend of the instrument. He is also very arrogant and confident which he has a right to be considering his history. But the Bm chord will sound good on any quality guitar. He's just being a typical eccentric artiste. I still enjoy listening to what he has to say though!!

      @@corvusmonedulas4895 the air does not get released quick enough so the soundboard does move more freely resulting in shock going back through the bridge and saddle to the strings creating almost a type of nasal ping or vibration. Its like hitting a steel pole with a wooden stick and feeling the shock going back through your hands and arms. This guitar would be awesome with just one sound port at the top of the upper bout.

  • @gtrmusic69
    @gtrmusic69 6 лет назад +1

    If the string recovers quickly to zero position there is no more sound.
    This guy is full of ideology (as in full of shit) just like brother Pepe is.
    He and Pepe only play three pieces, Aranjuez, Asturias and Requerdos.

    • @alexbustamante6532
      @alexbustamante6532 6 лет назад +1

      I don't think he meant that the string completely stops vibrating, which indeed would create no more sound. I think he means that in some guitars, the strings vibrate way too much and make it hard to play continously in that same string. The difference between cheap guitars and these incrediby crafted guitars is that the acoustics of the guitar and its wood are so good that they can sustain the note very long without much vibration of the string. The sound just pops out and stays forever without being cut out by the next note. The sound is full and has a lot of direction forwards, while in other guitars, the string won't stop vibrating but also creates a short sustained sound. I'm saying all this without any knowledge in acoustics or guitar making but I'm just trying to justify for this man's explanation. I don't think he's full of shit, I believe its called experience. But then again, don't even know the man.
