Ah yes Murphy’s Bogging it’s brutal in long Campaigns where an immobilized vehicle means that your Stryker squad is gonna be without wheels (and the very important Javelin) for the entire operation 😢 its a bit annoying that Immobilized can basically mean Destroyed in campaigns and there’s a chance it can’t be recovered
Just a single tank lost with some BMPs, great playthrough. Picking the right hand path was a good choice, I can't imagine the nightmare if someone dared to pick the "normal" route.
I feel like you bite more than you can chew, you want to advance while clobbering every pair of lovers in the bushes. Ok but you could also just use leapfrogging offensive smoke on bmp and simplify whole maneuver. Uncons cant go chasing you with your t72 turms thermals seeing through smoke.
An excellent aggressive operation from you, possibly could have been faster but when has anyone ever been perfect? You balanced speed and caution well and had a solid plan, and it paid off. Aggression really can reduce casualties sometimes
I'm only at the 10min mark so this may resolve itself. While I agree with "going right", how do you clear the route - owning 3, 4 and 5 is no good to the truck destroyed at "1'? Do the supply trucks actually appear and need to successfully transit or is the "trucks arrive in 30mins" a rationale for setting scenario length? Perhaps go right and then send a force back down the route from the unexpected approach to remove whatever is sited to shoot at the road? 16:00: How does a UAV/UAS identify a VBIED? I mean its just a vehicle with an explosive device inside and should be pretty much identical, externally, to any other red sedan?
@@usuallyhapless9481 Thanks. I guess my concern is while you have gained points its still mission failure because Route Lightning is not secure. I guess this is the downside of "points based objectives" where the player goes for the points as opposed to what's in the orders.
@@whya2ndaccount well based on the post-game map i don't think it would take more then 30 minutes to secure the rought, not that it's going to particularly help that first convoy.
Outside of a CM context, I don't think it's a stretch for the convoy to use the route I used to get up the map after I send a tank back to bulldoze the wrecked BMPs off the road. Assuming the uncons hang around under threat of envelopment, my force and the convoy escort should be able to suppress them enough for the convoy to do its thing.
The timer seems like the biggest obstacle, forcing you to risk so many vehicles without infantry spotting. Some kind of campaign map for tracking timetables and letting players decide how fast missions go with benefits/penalties would be interesting.
@@usuallyhapless9481 I can certainly see why, as you’re correct - mortars are not rifled but artillery is known as guns mate, so for example a unit can have guns and mortars on-call 👍. [edit] We are called ‘tubes’ as like a wind-up by other branches, particularly the anti-tank lads as they know it’s wrong but say it to trigger us.
Could you provide a link for us to try the scenario as well pls? I have checked the few good men scenario depot, but the tournament missions don't seem to be available there.
The plan is to release em post tournament ie when all is done. Releasing em prior does open the door to pre tourney err… ‘checking’. OpSec and all that.
If they basically just re-release this game with the equipment set in the modern day it would be awesome. Imagine if the non-conventional had Kamikaze drones in this scenario
Does Combat Mission model Individual protective equipment (Helmets and body armor)? I never thought about it till looking at the unconventional forces.
Hey Hapless (or anyone in the know), is this scenario publicly released or tourney exclusive? Tried to have a little look around for it cause looks like a good time! If not public, could probably be reverse engineered.
Great video. I also like that unusual scenario of the Syrians Army against the Uncons. This is some fresh breath of air.
Yep. It's a nice change of pace.

One of the neatest maps I have seen in CM so far.

Is this another one of those “Scheduled for Friday” posts?
Nope, this is intentional!
Really.
Nicely done, Mister Hapless! Lightning route looks very creepy.
Great video! Im still learning the ropes.
Thx

Unless its a disaster!
@@usuallyhapless9481 Yes, well, then you just don't upload the video, haha
13:51 These Syria infantry are front of BMP-2, while BMP-2 was decide to advance, in real life these might get rammed and crushed already. Very funny.
Very glad CM doesn't model stuff like that. All my pixeltruppen would get themselves killed.
I honestly want to see someone try to thunder run speedrun the scenario just to see how far they get
I've done it when I was playtesting - does not end well...

such dated visuals and yet often, so life-like
Let's go! Mate!
Top tip - when referring to mortars, they’re known as barrels as opposed to tubes 😅.
Great video though as always 👍
I'd have thought artillery gets barrels and mortars gets tubes because one is rifled and the other (generally) isn't

@@George_MC Ah, i see thanks for the clarification, looking forward to it.

Correct.
It is a 73mm gun, yeah. This is what happens when you're making a video about Shermans at the same time

well, totally it's shit, might be once again locked down on that unfavorable situation for both side.

Yes, it does.
Yeah. There are noticeably more lightly wounded when you play with troops wearing body armour.
Good vid, I find the SAA vs Uncon matchup far more interesting than anything with the NATO countries.

@@usuallyhapless9481 Amazing!! Thanks for the reply
I really want to see some gameplay from the unconventional side
How do I play this scenario battle
where can one download said challenge sir?
It is to be used in the invitational tournament so it's not released yet. It will once the tournament is over.
@@AtlasAct01 ah yes, totally understandable. Cheers dude.
Why don't you use the infantry properly?
Usually Hapless, I loved this video so much, I had to hit the like button!

Mark Felton? Why are you playing Combat Mission?!
