Love how the commentator got borderline overexcited about pretty much everything he did - and understandably so. It was a truly amazing program you can never get tired of watching.

My favorite male skater, not just a skater, but a true artist and actor. Loved it!! even here in 2019.

I'm so dissappointed that the russians are the most unfair only 5.6 for presatarion? European are unfair to russians but i didnt know that the russians can be even mean, very unfair. He deserves 6.0 for presantation.

Phillipe is friggin awesome. Yeah he may not have had the most perfect technique, but no one was a better showman than him, & he didn't seem to care what anyone thought.

What do they mean he's "too commercial". He's not anymore commercial than most. It should be about skill, talent, style, and showmanship, which he is rich in. I love to watch him perform. The best thing about him I think is that the thing he is most concerned with bringing pleasure to the audience.

5.6 and 5.7 for artistry were juste pathetic

I agree. His performance of this in the 1998 Olympics is still memorable for me. Artistry should have been 5.9 to 6.0 across the board. He couldn't have been more artistic than he was.

I think Samuel Contesti (fellow Frenchman) is a similar comparison to Candeloro, particularly his 2009 Western-themed free skate that earned him European silver and a top-five finish at Worlds. A lot of two-foot skating, not the best spins, and an overall rough feeling. However, much like Philippe, Samuel is a showman and believes in his character. The previously-mentioned free skate was one of the most simple choreography-wise, but he still pulled huge PCS for selling it.

@premierrules Honestly, I think he would struggle with the current system because while he could do all the jumps, his technique is very unusual and the judges would probably penalize him for that. He was also kind of a weak spinner. But this program and his Godfather programs always got great presentation marks, so he'd probably do quite well with some of the program components.
