I began trying to tie flies back in 1969, I was 12. Nothing profound about that, many of us are out there.
The name I grew up learning was Mustad! The language I grew up speaking was Mustad. I have a number of different kinds of naked of hooks on my bench, but Mustad is still spoken here and I am happy to see this new line of hooks coming out! Thank you!

Great commercial, and I am so glad to hear Mustad improving their fly hooks. Unfortunately, after spending a good 40 min on their site, adding hooks to the basket, I learn that Mustad does not sell online to the UK, and I cannot find these available in the UK. There must be other UK tyers are currently looking to get their hands on these??

Hi Martin, I am aware of your problem... Fly Fish Europe are now the distributors for Mustad so you should be able to get them through them!

@@Thefeatherbender Hi Barry, thanks again for your help. I have checked out this Fly Fish Europe. They are more like agents than retailers. You send them your wish list and then they send to a selected dealer. Its not the way I want to buy products, not efficient and direct enough for me. Sorry, not getting at you at here, but can't understand why such an experienced company and a well known brand of fly hooks could not secure good distribution in one of the most important fly tying markets in the world. If I lived in Malta, I would not have a problem. Anyway, sorry for the rant and have ordered several models of the heritage range from the US, so looking forward to tying on them. Thanks again. P.S Really enjoy your brilliant fly tying.

Been to the Mustad hook factory in China - after that visit I've sworn off Mustad hooks. The QC control is.... lets just say, not great. Saltwater hooks, fine. Trout hooks, not a chance.

So expensive hook and i don't understand why it's also with barbed hook...
In 2023 i think it's not necessary to sell barbed hook...

Yes they are expensive but you have to pay for the tech and the market demands barred hooks I'm afraid!

It's only a ptfe coating and it don't cost expensive to made this...
The sharp is the same than many hook in comparison, tiemco, hanak, fullingmill,
For sure you're sponsored by this company you can only say it's a good hook, but I'm sorry but I can't understand why it's so expensive for a trout hook...

I guess I don’t get it. I just bought several boxes of the Mustad Heritage hooks (freshwater trout ones like the R50 and the R73), they were cheaper in price than what I had been paying for the Signature series before. The boxes only list Mustad offices (Florida US, Norway, and Singapore) but not location of manufacture. I have not fished with them yet, but I have inspected the hooks in each box, and I do not see any quality control issues. I have used several of the other brands too (Daichi, TMC, etc) and I always thought the Signature series were comparable in quality. The big reason why I preferred Mustad over the others, is that they commonly have a larger eye in comparison to equivalent hooks of other brands. My eyesight isn’t what it used to be, so I prefer that. Let’s see how these Heritage hooks perform - I can’t find any customer reviews for them yet, and none of my fly fishing buddies have tried them yet either. But, the Signature series are being phased out, so had to get these instead. Anything to add?
