  • This is an attempt to capture some of the many thoughts I had about X-Men '97; a series as dense as it is remarkable. I don't cover every character, nor every story beat, but hopefully my enjoyment of X-Men '97 is one you can connect with. Spoilers of course, and I hope you enjoy the video!

    Thanks!
    I ignored X-Men 97 because of being Marvel movied fatigued.
    Like you, i grew up reading the X-Men (Uncanny, X Factor, New Mutants, etc) and have been burnt out by Marvels movies; i just couldn't care anymore. Topical treatment of characters, more flash then substance, and plots that just dont matter erroded my confidence that Marvel Cinema could do the franchise justice.
    My son is 12... and just starting to dip his toe into my old comics. Maybe X-Men 97 will be a good excuse to make some popcorn and watch with him.
    Hell, much of my moral compass was formulated because of my love for the Mutant comics.... and honestly, i can hope the show just compounds what is being taught to him as he grows into adult hood.

      I guarantee you'll like it, as an old comic head myself and someone who wanted to see Marvel get back to what they were best at, this was a homerun

      In an age of polarization, there is a reason why X-men 97 got the highest score in a marvel show from both critics and audience.

    X-Men and Spider-Man were my 2 biggest comic influences as a kid. Watching the original X-Men cartoon was a Saturday morning tradition. My brother and I would leap at the chance to play the X-Men arcade game when we got to go to the arcade. I played every X-Men video game that I could as a kid from Children of the Atom to that weird one with Arcade (the villain). I was excited for this series to come out and was not disappointed by it and every interesting place it took the characters. I love the sincerity of the show. It doesn’t have Marvel quips. It doesn’t make meta commentary on itself as a cartoon about superheroes. It treats the characters and their problems as serious moments in their growth. I love that the show was bold. Killing Gambit was an absolute gut punch to millennials who grew up with him as our favorite mutant because of the original, but they didn’t cheapen the moment, didn’t undermine it, and gave us something to remember forever, and even if he returns as a child of apocalypse, they didn’t take it all back at the end. Great vid!

    Respect the source material and focus on telling a good character driven story and you get a high quality product. Shocking. Hopefully they don't forsake this in favor of a different agenda.

    If someone asked me to say the difference between Marvel and DC Characters
    DC Stories are about Gods protecting the Weak and innocent Superman Wonder Woman and Doctor Fate
    Marvel Stories are about Normal People born or gifted with powers Spiderman Iron Man and Hulk

    • @Glitch-qj3nj
      @Glitch-qj3nj 12 дней назад

      You forget about Batman , robin , huntress , John Constantine etc

    • @alexandrefrauches132
      @alexandrefrauches132 11 дней назад

      I would say that DC heroes are good who, in the quest to help others, learn the value of being human (ex: Superman failing to save his father teaches him that he can't save everyone, Batman helping Dick Grayson by becoming a mentor and father figure, Wonder Woman developing bonds with people like Steve Trevor and seeing the good and bad in humanity).
      Marvel heroes have more evident flaws. Some start arrogant (ex: Iron Man, Thor, Doctor Strange), others are outcasts (ex: the x-men) or didn't even wanted to be heroes, seeing their powers are curses than gifts ( Hulk, the Thing) but learns the importance of using those abilites to help others, despite how it affects their lifes, and, in the process, overcome their own personal flaws. Spider Man being the biggest exemple.
      Basically, while DC has heroes who become human, Marvel have humans who become heroes.
