  • Effect of higher value capacitor in cileing fan on Electricity bill
    In this video I practically discussed ceiling fan speed problem and performed ceiling fan capacitor replacement to determine effect of capacitor replacement in fan by a higher capacitor value.
    capacitor used in ceiling fan or capacitor in fan function for two purposes boosting starting torque and power factor improvement.
    I used different values of capacitor 2.5mFd 3.5mFd and 4.5mFd to find the effect of power in term of wattage with the help of energy meter.

    In your another video about adding capacitors to improve power factor you showed that adding capacitor to the circuit does not change the overall power-wattage. But here the watts are changing by increasing the capacitor value.

    Good informative video.... But agar fan puranay zamany ka ho and 80 watt power consume karay and small capacitor say slow chalta ho...then kitna capacitor lagana chayey....?

    اگر وولٹیج پورے ہوں تو 4.5 مائکرو فیرڈ ٹھیک ہے... لیکن جب وولٹیج لو ہوں تو 3.5 لگانے سے پاور لاس پر کچھ فرق نہیں پتہ... باقی آپکی تحقیق بہت اچھی ہے... جزاک اللہ

      Fan due to circulation of Air and Aluminum casing don't heat up with a 1 uF difference. but RPM become satisfactory .

      Yes, I also face this issue when I applied a high capacitance capacitor with the fan so as a result, I did not feel the major difference in fan speed even after one year the fan burned out. Then I wind it again totally

      I think no. Because the high capicitor will still use the same amount of electricity. So better not to use high value capacitor.

    WE can also lower the watt usage by reducing the fan speed with regulator. The more bigger capacitor you install the more speed the fan will gain.

    Fan speed increases with higher value capacitor that’s why power consumption increases. You can decrease speed from dimmer.

      Well said, don't know why this youtuber bhai not explain RPM increase and air flow increase with high value Capacitor. I have seen this. A dead fan become a usefull one by changing 2.5 to 3.5 capacitor. Not mean 2.5 was old and weak. Even a new 2.5 don't make enough RPM for a satisfactory air flow.

    But 2.2 capacitor dont work in low voltage run from gird station ,even 3'.5 is not doing well I got capacitors of 4.5 power.Over billing no matters but want the fan to run and make us relaxed.Thanks.

      Fan jitna purana hoga usme utna heavy capacitor lagega tab wo taiz chalega. New fan 2.5 pr b goli chalta hai.

    @AJ Electric, thanks for the useful info. Do you know why the fans make a buzzing noise? Even brand new fans make this oscillating noise which gets faster as the fan spins faster. Is it the coils vibrating? Or the bearing?
