Everyone knows about Zion National Park, Moab National Park, Arches National Park, and Bryce Canyon National Park. Southern Utah is one of the greatest regions of our beautiful country. There are so many National Parks in such a short distance from each other makes Southern Utah one of the favorite American Road Trip destinations.
To be completely transparent; the goal of this project is to provide you with some alternative travel ideas around the region, as National Parks will inevitably be very popular when US travel picks back up this summer. The team at Visit Utah came to me with the idea for this video; as they explained the dilemma of national parks being very crowded.
I had the opportunity to take a 5-day Utah Road Trip, starting in St George, Utah (after flying into Las Vegas and driving to St George). From St George, we began the road trip to discover as many hidden gems as possible.
From St George we went hiking to Yant Flat, a beautiful terrain in the Red Reef conservation area. From Yant Flat we drove to Sand Hollow State Park, a beautiful lake that is a great alternative to Lake Powell. Quail Creek is also a great waterfront spot.
You can go Kayaking, hiking, boating, fishing, and other great activities in the area. My favorite aspect of Sand Hollow State Park, was the UTV sunset tour from B.A.S.H. rentals right on the Sand Hollow State Park beach.
The following day we drove from St George to Cedar City to visit Cedar Breaks National Monument. Cedar Breaks is a great alternative to hiking Bryce Canyon National Park. Cedar Breaks National Monument is quieter and just as beautiful from above.
We ventured into downtown Cedar City to visit the Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA), which made for a great change of pace to all the outdoor activities and hiking.
From Cedar City, we drove north to Beaver, Utah where we visited The Creamery in Beaver before hiking in Fishlake National Forest. Honestly Fishlake National Forest might have been the most underrated spot of the entire trip. I never heard of Fishlake National Forest before this trip and I would highly recommend adding this place to your list.
Bullion Falls in Fishlake National Forest is incredible.
From Fishlake National Forest, we made the beautiful road trip drive up the i70 to Green River.
From Green River, we spent the day with a true Navajo and visited House on Fire; one of the most incredible ruins I’ve ever seen. Luis Williams of Ancient Wayves is a Native American who is from this land and now runs hiking and rafting tours in the region. It was hands down, the most interesting day of the trip.
The USA National Parks are amazing, but if you have the chance on your next Utah Road Trip, I highly recommend visiting these incredible hidden gems.

hey, Gareth, when i manage to go explore Montana or Leavenworth ?
What a amazing & discover trip in Utah... so exciting & great breakthrough!!!
Cheers & love you.
Kudos to whoever is editing your videos, Gareth. Those transitions are getting better and more seamless. God job, Gareth, Daniel. and company!
Thanks especially for showing the names of the locations you're visiting. It makes it easier for us to travel there, too.
Absolutely Jim! Did you also see the map I created in the video description?
Best travel videos!! Would love to see “10 hidden gem” video series in different states!
Thank you very much Megan, and that's a great idea!! 😀 👍
What a great video! My husband and I followed your advice on several destinations for my leave. (Hubby is retired). Enjoyed our tour with Louis Williams from Ancient Wayves! Best tour guide ever! Really enjoyed House on Fire tour. Loved staying at Bluff Dwellings Resort and Spa! You were right the pizza is awesome! Bullion Falls was a beautiful hike. It was chilly this morning but leaves are changing too! Fall leaves and a water fall! We also did the Spectra Point trail at Cedar Breaks National Monument. Another hidden gem!!! Tomorrow we are going to Sand Hallow State park! We also hiked Great Basin (NV), Capital Reef National park, Arches and Canyonlands. But the hidden gems you gave us really made our trip! No crowds!!! We had the forest to ourselves!!! This itinerary was perfect for us since we are currently leaving in Las Vegas (active duty Army nurse) and did not want to fly anywhere because of COVID. Thank you so much for sharing this video!!
Thank you so very much. Even though I live in Utah, there are so many untraveled destinations to see and I appreciate you exploring some of the hidden gems I have not had the chance to see yet. Your videos are so well done and entertaining. Looking forward to your next adventure! Thank you!
You’re videos are never boring, great cinematography
I truly appreciate that Sodi! 🙏
THIS IS SO LIT! THE EDITING, THE VLOGGING, THE NARRATION, THE VIEW. MAN, YOU ARE AMAZING!!!
Amazing! Such beauty!Thank your camera man for doing a great job.I liked the jumping off the rocks, which i would love if i was 20 yrs younger.I'm glad you went into the waterfall. The museum and cheese shop looked interesting. Thanks for including some indoor activities.
Absolutely Alex, thanks for following along! There is so many underrated spots in this region, it’s incredible!
Please tell me you picked up an "I
LOL, I actually tried to buy a Creamery t-shirt and they didn't have my size! 🤦🏻♂️😂
I’ve heard about a lot of these places living in Utah my whole life. I need go actually get up and get going!
Love to hear that Andrew! Sounds like it's time for a road trip!!
What a great video Gareth (and Daniel). And I agree with another commenter that this style of video lends itself to anywhere USA and I for 1 (or 2) would watch.
Thank you very much! We will definitely be doing this style more often!! Cheers!
The sand dunes would be my number 1 spot plus the last segment with the hyrogliphs..hidden gems for sure..your content is always spot on..!👍👍🇺🇲
I appreciate it Beverly, and great choices!
Gary, are you comfortable in that "cozy" car? Your head is hitting the top. The steering wheel is between your knees, hahaha. I'm 6'4"and I can fully understand that not all cars are for us but that is looking extra tight there.
Spite the transportation choices Southern Utah is amazing!!! I have visited the are many times and for sure will do it again this summer. Thanks for another great entertaining and instructive video.
Haha, rental cars are always a bit of a tight squeeze and I'm only 6'2" 😂 Thanks for following along David!! 👊
“Jazzed about Utah” 👌🏽 🏀
Another great video sir. Your footage of the rock formations was amazing, well done.
Good catch Bert! 😉 haha
Just got home today from visiting Utah on the motorcycle. On my travel day from Zion to Bryce some locals recommend Cedar Breaks to me. The landscape there was gorgeous and in full wildflower bloom. I can not wait to return to Utah!
Man, I would love to explore on a motorcycle Eric, that's awesome!
I love the creative transitions in this video so much, I rewound a few just watch the magic again!
Awesome video. I didn’t see what time of the year you were there. Helps with planning a timeframe, looking to follow your path. Thank you!,
September and October has the best weather to play here!!
Reina is right, the fall is the best time to visit this region, but we were here at the beginning of June. Hot and more crowded, but still fun!
Please keep doing this video style. So cool.
And hit Florida next! My next vacation needing some cool spots
That's a great idea! I need to do this in more states!!
Amazing places there in southern Utah but I'm good just visiting La Veracruzana for the Molcajete. Thanks Gareth for another great video!
Haha, same Victor!! 😀
Well, I learned a lot, too, with a pad in Vegas and a pad in Salt Lake, I know about some of these places, but not all. I had some complain about the 80 mph speed limit in Utah, but these people are not forced to drive that. You ought to drive the Burr Trail out of Boulder.
I'm adding this to my list, thanks Kevin! 👊
The transitions between destinations is awesome! I’m definitely heading to Utah!
Thank you Jade! That was a fun/struggle to figure out! 😆
Gareth, thanks for enlightening us to these hidden gems. Planning a trip to Utah for later this year and will check out some of these places.
I love to hear that Mary, thanks for watching!
This is so cool, man! Driving across the sand dunes looks like a lot of fun! So many places I'd never heard of, like Cedar Breaks National Monument. Absolutely gorgeous. I also loved seeing the petroglyphs. Hahaha your analysis of that one painting in particular seems pretty spot-on to me 🤣 But my favorite part has to be your trek to House on Fire. You don't see a lot of Native American ruins on RUclips but I've always been fascinated by them. Awesome of you to showcase them!
Thank you so much Brandon! It was an awesome trip, and I can't wait to do it again!! 👊
Local here... I LOVE MY STATE😭❤ Glad you and your friend got to see some hidden gems😊😊👍🏼👍🏼 Your videos are AWESOME. This is my 4th one so far. And YES I've subscribed🤘🏼🤘🏼 Keep up the good work brother!!
Nice and fun adventure, it seems you're happy about what your doing😊😊Keep it up😊😊😋
Thank you! I can't complain with adventures like this! 😀
Nice place and adventure explore thinks these video frm ph
Thanks for watching John!!
Great video loved the drone shots and music! It's crazy how this is only scratching the surface of what Utah has!
Good morning Gareth! Fun adventure indeed. ☀️🚗 15:26 is a must have haha
Haha, absolutely!! 😃
GREAT ADVENTURE! Thanks a lot for bringing me along with you to a magnificent place! GREAT work! 💚💙❤️
Thank you for following along Lucita!! 😀

Very cool. I was in St. George last week. We didn't have much time, but I did hit Pioneer park in St. George which was awesome. There is so much cool stuff in Utah.
thanks for this video. It's good to know there more places to visit that is not crowded. Always wanted to explore Utah.
Loved this video. Going to Utah this week cant wait! Thanks for all the ideas!
Man all of these seem great but the waterfall would be my pick probably, or the Wayves!
Both were my highlights as well, Laura! 👍
That was so cool to watch nice job! 👍🏼!
Thank you so much Sylvia!!
I am planning to go to Utah in September. I just happened to stumble across this vid by accident. Awesome! Thank you so much, I hate crowded places :)
I guess it was an accident 😃 Have fun!!
Thanks 👍 definitely add this to my travel 🧳 list 📸
I appreciate it Alfred!! 👊
So happy to see Yant Flats on this list!! Will have to check out the others!!
I have family in St. George and went to Yants Flats for the first time last March. We arrived just as the evening sky was exploding. it was beautiful. The next day we hit the sand dunes with the four by fours. It was a blast. I've been to Cedar Breaks on a few occasions and it was stunning. Southern Utah is loaded with so many off-road adventures.
That's awesome Brad, yeah, it is such an incredible region of this country!!
Thanks so much 🙂I can't wait to add this to my road trip with my family ❤
Love to hear that Vivian! Let me know how it goes! 😃
I lived in SLC for 35 years. The majority of my vacations were spent in Utah, and usually at the same 3 or 4 places. Why? Because I loved those places, and it seemed to heal my soul every time I would visit. I have done the tourist stop thing at many places. Their are so many "nice" places to see and visit, but If you vacationed in Utah for 2 weeks EVERY YEAR for your adult life, I don't think it would be possible to see them all. When I first started vacationing Utah, I would eat at the Mom and Pop Diners, and thank goodness I did, because most of them have vanished now. I retired to SE Asia now, but if I were still living there, I would take a trip ASAP to that La Veracruz restaurant in Green River, and the Creamery in Beaver City. Those 2 places look like Shangri la to me. Don't get me wrong, SE Asia food is great, but the western food available here is KFC and Mcdonalds, and other fast food joints. Get off your phone, get off the computer, and get off the tv and travel baby. Of the top 10 memories of my life, they ALL include traveling.
Yeah Brah! Good to see you traveling! Keep at it hommie! Great video. And I love bloopers or whatever they're called at the end. That I've cream sounded yum yum yum. And that waterfall looked invigorating to the 10th power. Stay fresh brah! :) 👍
I just moved to St George!!! I love that you showed all the other great things to do there!!!!! But Beaver Taco is AMAZING .... then ice cream!! Knarraville Falls is perfect too!
Haha, I wish we had more time for Beaver Taco 😂
Miss and love Utah. Thank you for sharing this awesome great video bro
Thanks for watching and for the kind words, Tommy! 👊
The transitions are so creative!! 📷
The editing of this vlog is yet the BEST!!!
I appreciate it 👊
I enjoy every minute of it. Amazing video and wishing I was there.
Thank you so much! 👊
It was awesome to wake up to another fun filled adventure!!!
Thank you Gareth. I Love Utah. That was one of my adventures. It's beautiful. The dune buggies are a lot of fun if your into a fast adventure.
Keep it up Gareth!
PS. YOU WEAR YOUR ICECREAM WELL!
Also have you ever been to New Mexico. Lots to see in the North like tent rocks.
Haha, thank you for following along and nobody told me about the ice cream! 😂

Great video but you forgot Snow Canyon State Park and the Dinosaur Museum here in St George.
There's never enough time! 😂
I’ve done the ATV in Sand Hallow- it was awesome!! So much fun!!!
That's awesome Carol, isn't it a blast!? 💨
Brian Head would've been a fabulous stop as well. You were quite close from Cedar Breaks NM.
Adding this to my list, thank you!
@@GarethLeonard
Welcome! There's the highest elevation piece of Brian Head which you can drive quite high when the snow is gone. It's not that busy usually...
Brian Head proper is quite nice too!
Happy travels ❤️
I know some of these places, but definitely saw some new great ones! How did you research it? so cool!
Born and raised in Utah….I obviously don’t get out much. It’s time to change that! Thank you for this tour! Amazing!
Thank you! That was awesome💕
Thanks for watching 👍
I’ve been to a lot of these places, but been intrigued about a few of them. You missed the little grand canyon just west of Green River. :-)
Oooh I'll have to add that to my list for next time! Thanks Tracey!!
It's called the Wedge
Very well made video!!! Always interesting and full of adventure!
I appreciate it Johanna! 😃
It's an interesting video. I saw it all at once.
面白い動画ですね。一気に見ました。
We loved everything about this video … and the BTS😬🤣
Thank you so much!! 😃
Living here my whole life, I must admit it was fun to watch this video. Even if you did pronounce half of the names wrong (or at least not how we locals do ;) ). It's disappointing to see these local secrets getting busier and busier, but tourism is still how people get their income, and they are defiantly public places! I appreciate your respect and excellent video quality.
We are going thru this here to in White Mountains NH. Social media now has made our local secrets out in the open and busy very busy during covid.
Wow, that's awesome and very informing! I want to make my first trip o9ut to Utah in the late summer or early fall! I can definitely appreciate the Navajo experience but i think i would opt for Yant Flat or Ceder Breaks In Dixie!
VERYYY nicely done, bro! I'm lookin forward to going to Utah this year for the first time!
I want to go to that waterfall and to the canyon area that looked like Bryce.
And if you ever need info on Central Mexico, I'll be happy to give you some good info.
The lanscapes of Utah are just amazing!👍👍🇵🇭🇧🇭
Stopped in creamery is really a refreshing time...burn it in hiking...is amazing tho!👍👏
Another winner, Gareth! Thanks!
Thank you! 🙏
Good! I hope to visit this place soon 🙌🏻🙏🏻
Don't vist Utah, Utah is filled with Republicans. By visiting Utah you put money in Republicans pockets who will donate it to Trump. Don't vist Utah, don't support Trump.
This was an Awesome video great job 😍👍
I was just in Utah 3 weeks ago 😭
I bursted out laughing when he was explaining the painting because I could tell he wanted to laugh 😂
Also that blooper at the end was gold, beautiful water fall though 🤣
Love the off the beaten path places - so much more our style!
I completely agree, I need to do this more often! Thanks for tuning in!! 👊
I love your RUclips channel!
Thank you so much! ☺️
That's a beautiful place 🙂
It truly is Monica!
I like to see nightlife in LAS VEGAS 😊
Watching from Philippines ❤❤❤
Haha, whenever I experience Las Vegas nightlife, I try not to film! 😂
Gareth at 7:38 the ranger can teach you how to pronounce ZION properly. With your sharing videos to the world of our precious petroglyphs I wish you would also ask that they are respected & not be defaced, since they’re getting so exploited and the more people know about them the more they’re at risk.
Ia saw a "Jarocho" in your table. Come in to Veracruz. Is the first Port in Mexican Republic. Many Beaches, Rivers, Piramids and Food.
Daniel was telling me about how amazing it is there! Hopefully I can make a visit soon!!
@@GarethLeonard Thank you Gareth. I want to say I Saw. (sorry) I didn´t check my message. For me Veracruz is the Paradise but It's very Hot in summer. OMG. and I have to travel Puebla city is another amazing city in Mexico. Regards Gareth.
The Dog was like "I'm getting in on this"
Loving it and you, G!!!
Thank you Toney! 🙏
You should check out some of our spots in the central mountains of Utah we also have a really cool place called The Red Barn that is an apple orchard it's kind of like the creamery they got all kinds of stuff in there you should check that out it's in Mona Utah
Don't vist Utah, Utah is filled with Republicans. By visiting Utah you put money in Republicans pockets who will donate it to Trump. Don't vist Utah, don't support Trump.
My personal favourite is the waterfall.
Mine too! 😀
As soon as the US Federal Administration re-opens the northern border, I'm going to explore some of these neglected corners of the USA. Thanks for the useful tips, Gareth.
And I'm going to start exploring more of Canada!!

Amazing places 😍😍😍
They truly are incredible Marissa! Thanks for watching!
@@GarethLeonard Always Gareth!😊
As a local, I kind of do want the crowds to limit themselves to the national parks. But, ok, shine a little light on some lesser known sights, but please leave delicate archeological sites off the list!
That's fair Miranda! I appreciate your thoughts on this as a local. 🙏
@@GarethLeonard Someone bolted a climbing route across a petroglyph panel near Moab earlier this year. If everyone visited with respect it would be one thing. But they don’t.
Очень интересно! ))

OMG. That is beautiful PEACE on earth.
