I worked at Ford during that time frame as a computer geek. We hired an outside company to type up documents like those surveys in the video. They would deliver a tape with the data on it to us.
I'm gonna miss by XR. Thanks for driving down for a real world test drive and making this video. This vehicle is now residing in the Wilmington NC area.
Loved this video!! I didn't expect the test drive at the end, what a treat. I used to have a 1989 XR4Ti about 20 years ago. It was an interesting car I bought off ebay without even going to look at it. I don't recommend doing that.
Did the Ford simulator feature a part of the program where you're standing outside the car on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck... lmao. :-)
The question one needs to ask is, "How many of these cars survived"? I remember when these cars were new and although very stylish, they refused to corner the market. The styling was too European most American buyers and the Japanese competition was too strong. They did much better in Europe.

What form of tape?
@@Desmaad they were large round, maybe a 12" like you see in photos of main frames.

Well done on pronouncing Mare-Coor correctly! Nailed it! Fun walk through.

It's my car now, and thanks for selling it to me Daniel.
Please take good care of her..... Remember, if you ever decide to sell her, I get first dibs!
Came here from the TI99 video. Neat piece of software for the PC given the time frame. We’d have known these cars as a Sierra variant in the UK
This is pretty cool. I was 8 in 1986, but I don’t recall the Merkur until years later. And now I own one for the past 10 years.
This is really fascinating. Well done sir!
i enjoyed your video. saved it to my channel playlist. ❤️from Detroit!
11:39 but I has a Taurus interior haha... still love this! Looks like the first Testdrive game
Computers are cool

I definitely remember the XR4Ti and that disk. Way ahead of its time, car was ugly as hell though.
