Fantastic! As a retired computer engineer, often wondered what do do with collection of many years' worth of anti-static bags. You know...never throw it away, could be useful sometime! Happy Hogmanay and New Year Dave and everyone.
Hi Tom Busza, I'm glad you liked the fly and that you are going to use up your collection of anti-static bags..Happy New Year to you too and all the very best for 2016... ATB Davie...
Great tying. I'll give that pattern a go on corrib next year during the grey boy hatch. the light wire hook will stop the fly sinking too fast in the shallow bays. masterful tying as always, thanks you for sharing! merry Christmas
Hi John Maguire, These are going to Oughterard so I hope they do catch a few Corrib Trout...Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes... All the very best Davie
Hi Ian Price, It was a gentleman from Ireland that sent me the material and I would say that it's going to be hard to beat on a few patterns so I'm glad you liked it... Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes... All the very best Davie
Hi Robert andersson, Many thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you liked the fly.. Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you too... All the very best Davie
Hi Kevin, I thought I had put you off buying it as it does cost that bit more due to the torch. I know you will not regret it as it will save you money in the long run and as well cure the resin much better, but remember to finish it off with a fine varnish which will stop them being tacky...Have a Happy New Year and all the very best for 2016... Davie...
Hi Davie,I have been using the antistatic bag strips for buzzers and flash-back nymphs for years and now word of my "secret material" is out to the world! :-) My favorite patterns using the antistatic bag are for backswimmers and water boatman - the antistatic material imitates the air-bubble they carry very well. The pattern is simple and quick to tie... An antistatic strip body is built up over a lead core; the back is colored with a marker (black, brown, orange or blue) then all is sealed with varnish or UV resin. A very sparse black hen hackle collar with fibers the length of the body completes the fly. I usually tie them 2-3 mm larger than the actual insect to make them more noticeable to the fish. Cheers and Happy New Year to all! Hank
Hi Hank, Sorry to let the secret out the bag as they say but 80% comes down to the way you fish it..Many thanks for sharing your boatman pattern which sounds very interesting, I'll give it a go....Merry Christmas and a Happy New and all the very best for 2016... Davie...
Hi max man, I use Bug-Bond lite for the buzzer so I have attached a link to it for you to see...I'm glad you liked the fly. ATB Davie.. www.fishingmegastore.com/fly-tying-uv-resin-and-torches/bug-bond-lite-20ml-resin~10016.html
Hi Maclean Kelly, Midge especially on our lochs are big and the average sizes would be size 10s to 14s though they can be smaller as well.. The rivers here have early hatches and they are in the size range you mentioned though I have rarely seen fish feed on them....I'm glad you liked the fly... All the very best Davie...
Hi Davie, Really like the idea for the buzzer rib, just bought some anti static bags from eBay and can't wait to try it out. I've been tying about 8 months now and was lucky enough to find your videos when I started, they have been a constant inspiration and joy to watch. So id like to say a massive thank you for all the hard work you've put in. I fish a lot al Blagdon and Chew Valley Lake, a fly that always seems to be pretty productive and I hear a lot of people talking about are "muskin" flies. Is this something that you are familiar with? I've had a look through your videos because I thought you may have tied one at some point but couldn't see any. It looks like a cross between a pheasant tail and a buzzer with breathers. Anyway, if this is something that interests you id really like to see your take on it. Thanks for your time Davie, Kind regards, Joe
Hi Joe, I know the pattern you are taking about as I've been asked about this fly before. I have tyed a few patterns in this style but I've never called them Muskin Flies though you will get a different name for the same fly on other waters especially when they are being fished in competitions.....The Antistatic buzzer would be a good pattern tyed in this style, let me know how you get on and I'm glad you enjoy the videos... All the very best Davie

Hi Huge Purcell, You need to moisten the lite-brite before you tye it on as this will hold it together and as well make it much easier to control when making the wing buds.... All the very best Davie
Very nice demo and that material makes the body look so real. Great looking Buzzers.

A belter of a buzzer. 😆
Midges are alot larger where you are at. I fish the ozarks in missouri and I have the best luck with size 22 and up. Like the pattern.
