Making your engineers participate in customer service is brilliant!
Very important to make engineers feel empathy for customers.
This guy's view on customer support is so inspiring, wish every CEO had that mindset. Also love that they ended up building such a large engineering presence in Bangalore. And great questions/insights as always Garry!
Been waiting for part 2! Golden nugget: Educated product development decisions being "much more effective if they happen in just one person's head" and how Parker makes that happen! Gotta listen to his own words
Super insightful and keep these coming Garry!
The quality of this content is so high. Love what you're building here Garry. Things live up a year later.
really great video blog, you created Garry. Thanks from all of us.

I really apreciate your mindset
Thanks Garry 👍
Very cool interview shedding light on the cost situation in San Francisco, which I'm hearing more & more about. Hot tip my man: We're based in Munich, and we have the CDTM here (Center for Digital Technology & Management, sort of like Stanford for Bavaria, it's an excellence initiative of the government). => We have the highest numbers of startup success relative to most uni hubs in Germany & even Europe. Just google the number of successful startups that got started from the CDTM. Latest example, which previous partner at a16z Lars Dalgaard e.g. also invested in; is Personio, Series C. So conclusion: *Amazing talent for comparably low cost/salaries in Germany, and very low competition for VCs relative to the quality of startups.* You should have that on your radar! ;)
This video was made right before COVID, and aged like fine wine. Remote work might be technically feasible, but it's such a massive pain. Physical micro-interactions matter more than you'd think.
That's true. Remote work has become extremely important.
Great job Garry!
If any CEO wants to know what’s happening, go talk to the receptionist. No one asks their opinion but there is SO much info they have that no one taps into.
One company started a new phone-in campaign and had bad results. I said “hold on” and went to ask the receptionist what kind of calls we were getting. The calls spiked by 500% but she said....
...This example doesn’t matter.
Go ask your receptionist what kind of calls they get. You’ll be surprised. Ask them to keep a log for 30 days and see who’s calling. You’re welcome.
Thanks Garry :)
Thanks for watching!
Is the only different between talent in Bangalore vs. silicon valley, the wage you're willing to pay them? I find it hard to believe there'd be such stark difference in talent between these 2 regions.
i need this intro and outro music, pls tell me where they're from.
Wow!! I just quit my job and been binge watching your interviews. I’m ready to launch my startup now, wanna invest? Lol
Good luck with your startup!
My worst work experience was working for a MSP. It was a complete disaster from A-Z. There is so much opportunity for GOOD MSPs and somehow most can’t seem to get it right
May I ask what’s the biggest issue you see? I have a friend with an MSP and they have a ton of issues, mainly vision and direction. Also they don’t know how to train their sales team.
Great interview Garry! I can see this channel exploding. Do you have any plans to come to India?
