- We are working to clean up the cargo hold and replacing the cheap plastic crates with stronger wooden crates that lock into the floors. We'll be at least another two weeks doing this but I'm loving where it's going.
Your channel got me watching a few other sailing channels. While, don't care to see the "sailing" part of it, I still want you out there doing it. But I am glad you're still a "building" channel. Not gonna lie, your attitude since getting on the water shows through. Really enjoying the passion and positivity.
Doug, I first started watching your channel in 2015 later than many here and was immediately captivated by the teamwork, knowledge, experience, confidence, and sheer effort that you and the Seeker community was doing. Seeing the ship get launched in 2022 brought tears to my eye knowing the effort that was accomplished. I have been away not watching for a while and was reminded of it and came to check it out. Seeing you, on SV Seeker, enjoying life in the sea, seeing the finished boat sailing as she was meant to, has brought tears again. God bless you, your family, friends, all those who collabbed on building the ship, and to many years of fun and delight for you ahead! Tally-ho and Godspeed!
Efficiency in organizing boxes of what George Carlin defined as 'stuff' takes much more effort than just tossing 'stuff' into a box the garage an forgetting about it. Carlin's distinction between our 'stuff' and other people 'sh!t' was always a funny skit to me.
I have invented the mitosis system. I will think of a broad category and fill a bin with stuff from that category. When the bin eventually gets too full, I’ll split what’s left it into two bins with more granular categorization. Like I’ll start with a “Fasteners” bin, which eventually might become separate “Screws” and “Nails” bins, which over time might become “wood screws”, “metal screws”, “construction nails”, “finishing nails”, etc. The categories sort of create themselves.
@@beefchickenI've heard that when big screws are put together in the same bucket, they make little screws. I'm guessing they start as those tiny screws in my glasses until they grow up....🤔😜
Fog here in Kansas this morning, too! Thanks for the update, Doug - I was wondering how things were going out there.
It’s fine, I honestly don’t know how many times I’ve tidied my shed up.
Last time though as starting to get a bit more sorted for moving house at some point soon. It’s on the market!
Great idea to put it on your phone which box its in.
Look forward to seeing the next sunrise and sunset 🌆 with you soon
All that decision-making about what to keep is real work! I may have my little sailing kayak on the gulf near ya in a few weeks.
Come on by. Maybe you can use a few plastic crates. : )
The crates made out of pallets look great! I'm sure it's going to get warmer for you, for me, on my way back to Canada. Cheers
Live Free or Die! Love it. That is the New Hampshire state motto. We don’t have income or sales taxes here!!!
Hey Doug! Figured I would check up on you, I was part of the initial Coast Guard Crew that came out to you in Tulsa. Glad you made it safely out to the Gulf! Fair winds and following seas my friend!
Howdy Ben. I remember you. Hope your USCG career is going well. Your commander there was a horrible introduction to the USCG. The vibe with the USCG in NOLA across the Gulf has been nothing short of awesome. If you're still there, get out. : )
@@SVSeeker I completely understand, trust me I was not the happiest about how he presented us. I am in the reserves now after 10 years. And I know all about the Gulf Life, I was stationed in Venice, LA for a while and recently went to Key West for a deployment.
@@RoyalMilkman Yeah, I can't tell you how happy I am that my first impression was absolutely wrong. : )
Let’s hope that none of these boxes ever become this, but I think it’d be funny to name one box, Flotsam and box Jetsam. Lol
Always great to hear from you, Doug! Look forward to more vids.
Thank you kindly
Like Gaza , im glad im not there
LOL! And smart enough not to live there.
That's cool s***Thank you the boxes I mean with the engravings. Happy cool if you could use the engravings to write things down the walls as you walk through the boat
Well done for essentially being noah and building your arc to get away from the detiorating world. Youve timed it perfectly.
Actually have met so many great people building this boat I think the world is doing great.
If your life is anything like many of us, as soon as you determine you don't want or need something then sell or give it away, you'll need it. Which of course is how many of us get started as hoarders. Truly though, the only professional hoarders I know of are librarians and pawn shop owners.
Ture that. But you can't be a hoarder on a boat. : )
What was your plan to lock them together in a stack so they don’t fall over? I missed that part somewhere.
There are boards on the bottom of each box that lock into to the floors or the top of any other box.
It took me years before I had proper packing with an accurate inventory map for my sailboat but it was worth it. Each step brings you closer to having everything that you need and being able to find it.
And more visibility would be a plus, too.
Thanks for letting my dad come and visit and help out where he can I know he’s having the best time thanks again Ron’s son

It's great to see real life on the Seeker... it looks "lived in." 😂
I'm still amazed and impressed that you're out there DOING IT! It seems like only yesterday when Neil and I visited your house in Tulsa, and that metal hulk was still sitting on wheels. 👊😉👍 --QM
You and me both!
