I love this video, and I’m proud of my Puerto Rican heritage, my grandfather used to work on the sugarcane fields With his machete from sun up to sundown to provide for his family. My father also worked on fields as well, putting himself through college and finally graduating with a Law degree, Being appointed a district judge in 1962, at a young age of 27 in San Juan by then governor Luis Muñoz Marín. Those were hard days but so full of hopes!!!

Fast forward 70 years and selling Puerto Rico as a paradise hasn't changed very much. I have to watch this film from a United States-Puerto Rican political-historical evolution standpoint. Of course, I'm not from the same generation and the film is a vacation promotion.
If you know a bit about content generation, the story begins about this unique place in the Caribbean called Puerto Rico. Take note that the details the narrator goes into the history is about Spain invasion (not USA) and the fortress is a safe paradise to play golf. In the present, you can fly kite and walk the field with the family. Story goes by telling continental-americans that puertorrican are also americans. Settling again it is safe to visit Puerto Rico.
Up to minutes 4:42 the story was about vacation paradise. Next, it’s talks about the life of local worker and the profit in sugar and pineapple annually. Also, the horse racetrack sport. This segment is up until minutes 7:47 and here is two key fact that is bothering me.
    * For one, when you done watching the film, I still don’t understand how this segment fit in a promotional vacation.
    * For second, peoples who know the harsh life style of the 50s knows that working the agricultural field wasn’t easy. From the standpoint of video production, those kids in minutes 5:19 (eating pineapple) and 5:59 (sugar cane) were set up to give the impression to viewers _that is_ (in context of that timeframe) the typical local lifestyle and that they were happy working the field. Looks at how close up were the shots. If you don’t believe the fields was harsh, get back at the crossfade transition in minutes 5:26. A foreman walks in first plane from right to left and in the right hands carry a whip.
With the way the film portrait the segment, simply reaffirm my belief that Puerto Rico is an international money laundering for the mainland benefits and the reason why United States of America keep us as _territory_ .
The rest of the film perhaps showcase the limits where travelers can enjoy the cities, like the beaches of Luquillo. Notice the difference in landscape in the 50s and nowadays. Also, the type of activities it was suggested you could do like being pulled by a car while sliding on smooth water. Which, of course, that’s unthinkable…
and the government agencies should pay attention?

Excellent summary. Critical thinking is not very common, and many Puerto Ricans refuse to see things as they really are when images or scenes of the island are shown. They prefer to see the images but not the essence of what really goes on behind the scenes. That seems to be one of the reasons why you are not getting that many thumbs up. Others ignore or refuse to see geopolitics in all its splendor. There's no doubt that this video is sheer American propaganda.

The eastside of the island, there are so many mulatos and Africans. Generally, most Puerto Ricans we're more Native Taíno than African. Most Puerto Ricans got at least 30% of Taíno Native DNA - they very mixed with Spaniards. In the west, there were the last Spanish settlers - most of them were from Spain and Italy - they gradually mixed with the last Taínos (Natives) villages in Utuado, Arecibo, Lares Aguada - also in the southeast in Coamo, Cayey, Juncos... My greatgrandfather's father was a Spaniard from Galicia; he lived 10 years in Canary Islands, and then he moved to Puerto Rico. He married with a mestiza in Lares Town. From my grandmother's father, she was Mulata - very African. I met her; she lived until 103 years. And she loved to cook; I miss her :(. We're very mixed society :).

It is crazy how the happy people portraied in this film are not puertorican at all or represent the mayority of the people of Puerto Rico. Stop romantizing the colonization of our people and our land. Poverty was extreme those days, as it is now. The USA has only caused misery, inequity and more poverty, plus millions of puertoricans have been exhiled from our island because it is to difficult to have quality of life here (PR). There a more puertorricans living outside of PR, than there are insodebthe island. We have the capacity to creat a better future without USA intervention.
