Taking a look at this hardened drill bit set from Stroton and finding out how well the warranty worked. Stroton M42 Drill Set on Amazon; www.amazon.co....
I think that's the name of the game make people happy send something instead of refunding the money. Who knows if the metallurgy is even close to what they claim fir being iso or reputable brand. You can simply just lightly gamble that they will work and if not they go back which is the nature of az. I rarely use m42 drill bits anymore since a brand called spyder came out with there impact drill bits. They seem to be ridiculously tough 5% cobalt made in usa and don't flinch at hardened steel or cast iron. When you find something local that works well and it's reasonable to replace it's hard to gamble per say. I do remember a tome were carbide tungsten ceramic ect drill bits were crazy price's. Now with these low end manufacturers we have our pick of pre exotic tools at good prices such is progress. When drilling out hardened chrome like you did I tend to multiple automatic center punch the area or rough up the chrome area that will get drilled out first so the hardest part dosent destroy thr bits. Appreciate the video as always !
I think M42 drills are best used in a pedestal drill or lathe where there is stability, they are a bit too brittle for use in hand held power tools. M35 is probably the best compromise out there for hardened steel and stainless. They seem to have done the job and were backed up by their warranty, so I can't complain really. I have seen a few Spyder wood drill sets, but nothing for steel in the UK. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Spyder Mach blue they look prismatic hombre color coating and it's not a gimmick. So if they start selling them or you see them hard to miss pick them up.
